Did You Know...

... that Florida builds the 4way potential for the future?

FSL supporter: Skydive City manager TK Hayes
posted Oct 17th, 2011 - This year's 4way recruiting campaign in Florida begins to show results as the 2011 season is slowly fading out.

The hosting skydiving centers of the Florida Skydiving League and iFLY Orlando have supported the FSL efforts to bring 4way Formation Skydiving and competition to more skydivers in Florida. Experienced competitors and coaches have also helped out by providing their free expertise and knowledge.

Last weekend, several participants of the previous FSL Tunnel Kicker and 2on2 tunnel training events at iFLY Orlando also attended the October meet of the Florida Skydiving League in different lineups at Skydive City in Zephyrhills.

The teams from Florida could not compare their scores this weekend with teams at other events since the regular 2011 season is over except for one more meet at Cross Keys.

However, a total of six teams competed in all four competition classes, and the "Tunnel Kickers" applied their improved skills at the outdoor competition.

Passionate 4way fan: SOCOM Commando's Keith Walter
It was a 6-team field with three different characteristics competing in four different categories.

Keith Walter, original founder of the Colorado Skydiving League, and his wife Yvette guided two lineups of the Special Operations Command in Tampa through the meet on Saturday as player coaches.

They are both passionate 4way fans and continued with their own AA Class lineup with six more rounds on Sunday.

Paul Barkus, DeLand Cinco member of 2010, and Tunnel Kicker Emily Zastrow joined Keith and Yvette Walter for the six rounds with SD City Commandos in the AA Class meet.

The two SOCOM lineups (SOCOM Paras and SOCOM Commandos) competed with each other in the Rookie Class on Saturday and had another Rookie Class lineup in the same category on Sunday.

The second group of teams had several participants of the previous Tunnel Kicker events at iFLY Orlando in the lineups. Rookie Class team Z-City, with player coach Bob Byrne, had trouble with the exits but still managed to steal the 1st place from the SOCOM teams with a 7.0 average.

Three Tunnel Kickers and Ari Perelman with Zunday
Three more Tunnel Kickers joined forces in the Zunday lineup. The former Rookie Class competitors attended their first meet in the A Class, and player coach Ari Perelman helped them in the two rounds that this lineup completed on Sunday.

The increasing winds kept the team on the ground after two great jumps.

Gary Fox, Sebastian Jimenez and Keith Murray are planning to continue together and are now looking for a 4th member.

Goal is to complete the lineup before the NSL Championship in November and get well prepared for the meet at the next November Tunnel Kicker.

Last not least, Teiwaz represented once again a group of experienced skydivers who get together once a month to enjoy a fun day of 4way jumping. Last weekend's lineup was the same one that attended the June meet in DeLand. Albert Berchtold was on camera for Teiwaz this time. He was also filming Zunday.
