Did You Know...

... that there was a 5th candidate at the SDC Rhythm XP tryouts?

First results of the Rhythm Tryout Poll
posted Dec 18th, 2011 - Chris Farina is the favorite candidate of the SDC Rhythm XP tryouts so far, at least for the NSL News audience and according to the first results of the new NSL Poll.

The results page also has the option for comments, and a visitor asked for information about the 5th candidate. Yes, there was another candidate, as the NSL News mentioned earlier. NSL News reporter Kurt Gaebel had his turn at the very end of the tryouts day, and there was no time to process the footage and information.

In fact, Chris Farina's story had higher priority to keep the correct order and came first on Saturday. The video footage of the 5th candidate's session has been uploaded now and is ready for reviews, too. It is pretty ugly at times, literally bloody.

End of the day at the Rhythm tryouts
The NSL News had prepared for an undercover story to find out what it takes to become the team member of a world class team.

The three Rhythm member had accepted Kurt Gaebel as a tryout candidate, and he had to go through the same procedures as the other four candidates.

Chances are little that Rhythm will select the NSL News reporter as their new Center Inside, however, the audience has the opportunity to enter the interview room for the first time.

The NSL News has filmed the flying sessions at the Rhythm tryouts in 2009 and on Friday, and NSL Talk with candidates and Rhythm members have followed up. The NSL News has still respected the confidentiality of the Rhythm interviews with the candidates.

The personal part, foundation for future group dynamics and team atmosphere, is the most important part of tryouts and selection though.

Tough and bloody deal at the Rhythm tryouts
Commitment and dedication are other important components, and the video of the brief interview with the 5th candidate provides insights of what is going on in the briefing room. The options of the NSL Tryouts Poll will not be changed, despite the 5th session...

The 5th flying session was not as long as the one for the other candidates. The three SDC Rhythm XP members were not done after the tryouts day, as several tunnel campers were waiting for their first instructions and training sessions.

It was still an intensive and eventful flying session with the 5th candidate. It had to be interrupted when Steve Lefkowitz's knee tested the candidate's helmet during Block 21 (Zig Zag - Marquis). The flying session continued after a short break.

The NSL News will go back one more time to the Rhythm tryouts to show the beginning of the tunnel camp that brought participants from across the country to Paraclete. The camp began much more peacefully after the blooody ending of the tryouts...
