Did You Know...

... that ISB Air Remscheid announces plans for the 2012 season?

After the accident in March 2011
posted Dec 21st, 2011 - The NSL News reported on 17 November 2011 that the German national 4way team in the female category, ISB Air Remscheid, was ready for a strong comeback, which was scheduled for the ISR Grand Prix 2011.

It was not the complete lineup yet that posted a 21.2 average at this event, as the NSL News followed up on 27 November 2011. However, it was the expected strong comeback, with Paratec-Saar member Dieter Schwarz filling in for Center Outside Sarah Hajooze who was still working on getting physically stronger after her accident in March 2010 and the recovery process.

In the meantime, the German team has been working on the plans for the 2012 season and recently released new information of the team plans: "Another update for the 2011 season! The first thing that is new, is that we have a special addition to our team name, and that is ’Remscheid’. We are very happy with that because skydiving club FSC Remscheid is supporting us for the 2012 season! That is great news! Under our new name we entered the Indoor Grand Prix in the Netherlands and won silver medals! You can read all about it in our new update!"

IN COMPETITION MODE AGAIN

After the German nationals everybody went back to work or school. The summer was over in Germany, but our skydive season was not over yet! We had one more competition on our agenda: the Indoor Grand Prix in the Netherlands on the 26th of November. A total of 41 teams from Holland, Belgium, Italy, Greece, France and Germany attended this tunnel competition. Last year we also competed at this competition and because it was so much fun we put this competition on this year’s agenda too. It was also a great opportunity to represent our home tunnel ‘Indoor Skydiving Bottrop’ (ISB) and of course have a great time being in the competition mode again!

Because Sarah wasn’t feeling that confident to fly the competition with us yet on full speed, because she just flew her first minutes again after several months of recovery, we found Dieter Schwarz from the other German national team to fly her slot for the competition. We have a little exchange project going on between both national teams, because Petra filled in for Dieter at the German nationals last August.

For preparation we could only train 45 minutes at Bottrop on the day prior to the meet. It was hard work to train everything in such a short session, but it felt great to get back in the air with the team. We managed to practice every block, random and exit in these minutes. The best news is that Sarah also joined us in the tunnel for a few sessions. That was awesome!

SILVER MEDALS

Sarah also joined us in Roosendaal for some extra support, and we were thrilled to be there as a complete team! And Dieter filled in perfectly for Sarah! We were not sure how the competition would go, because we haven’t trained with the team in months, but the competition rounds went very well. Of course we had some rounds that were not perfect, but that’s also part of competition. The energy in the team was great and everybody gave it their all. It’s great to be competing again! We love it!

We had a good race with the Dutch national team of 2010 (Dynamic Fource), who had a home game in Roosendaal. We did not expect to be that close to Dynamic Fource because we were not very well prepared going into this competition and we were not in our original line-up. We won some rounds, tied other rounds and only gave away a couple of points in Round 4. After 8 rounds, only the top 5 teams of every class could fly the finals. The finals for the top three positions in the international event were between Thunder, Dynamic Fource and us! In Bedford we were only 1 point behind Thunder after 10 Rounds, but this time Thunder trained a lot so it was obvious that first place was not within reach (at least not this time).

The race for the silver medals was ours! We had a 5-point lead going into the final round and after a solid final round with lots of energy in it, we won the silver medals! We were very happy with that! And we had a good average of 21.2.

IN THE MEDIA - AND MORE TO COME

We had a lot of media attention in the last months. After the German nationals Skyleague reported some articles about us. You can read these articles by clicking on the following links: 9th of September and 19th of October. Also a lot of German newspapers gave attention to our team! During the Indoor Grand Prix there was a lot of media attention. Several local tv-stations covered the event, and a short movie clip features the competition. Besides all that Skyleague paid a lot of attention to our team. See the articles by going to the stories on 17th and 27th of November.

This competition comeback was great for us! We enjoyed it a lot and cannot wait to compete again, but then with the complete line-up! But that will not take too long. During the next months our training will be fully focused on the preparation for the World Challenge 2012. So we are flying as much as we can at the Bottrop tunnel, so we can pick up speed again with the team. And we are excited to do so! Our next update will be just after the World Challenge in April 2012. Stay tuned for more! Thank you very much for helping us to achieve our goals. We highly appreciate it!
