Did You Know...

... that Craig Buxton has moved the NSL website from 2005 to 2006?

NSL Archives
posted Jan 11th, 2006 - The New Year has finally arrived at the NSL website. Quite obviously, and as the header on the front page clearly shows, the 2005 information has now been archived. The front and index page of skyleague.com leads straight into the 2006 season. However, the Archives still offer all the details of the 2004 and 2005 seasons.

It is easy enough to find the information of the two previous years. The navigation column on the left side, below the NSL logo, offers the entrance to the NSL Archives on the very bottom of all the links to the usual feature pages. The archives of the previous years contain all the details that were posted throughout each season.

The year that is currently visited in the NSL Archives can be identified by the number of the year at the NSL logo. A visitor looking for an NSL News story in 2004 will first enter the Archives 2004, which brings up the last homepage of that year. The next click on one of the News buttons presents the overview page of the NSL News in 2004. By the way: a total of 234 stories were posted in 2004...

CZSL founder Jan Klapka with his Bad Boyz
The NSL News has followed the 4-way competition in the Czech Republic ever since league founder Jan Klapka launched his 4-way project and joined the NSL Network in 2005. The last NSL News update from the Czech Republic came on 31 December 2009 and was the last NSL News story of the past year.

Jan Klapka had laid out his plans for the 2010 season, which included the completion of a new windtunnel in Prague. He also mentioned that he would teams in three competition classes this year, AAA - A - Rookie.

The 2010 season in the Czech Republic began last weekend, and eight teams made the first competition this year a successful and promising start.

NSL News search engine
The NSL News also offers its own search engine for each season. It is located on the top of the NSL News overview page. The search engine can make NSL News life very easy while looking for specific topics. A click on the NSL logo at any time brings the visitor back to the front page of the specific season in the NSL Archives.

It is important to know that the click on the NSL logo does not bring the visitor back to the most current home and index page of the 2006 season. It is necessary to first click on the "Archives 2006" at the bottom of the navigation column to change the year.

The new age of the NSL website began in 2004 when webgenious Craig Buxton customized skyleague.com for the NSL needs. Craig Buxton and NSL headquarters thought about the best way how to move into the next season without giving up all the precious information at the end of 2004. Craig Buxton then created two different data bases, and the NSL Archives were born.

NSL home page in 2003
It was quite an effort to move skyleague.com from 2004 to 2005 by then, and Craig Buxton recently took the time once again to move the NSL website now from 2005 to 2006. It was not easy for him to get the NSL job done. Craig Buxton works for SkyVenture and recently moved with his family from DeLand, Florida, to Austin, Texas, where SkyVenture sets up the new corporate offices. He created and administrates the International Body Flight Association, which currently trains wind tunnel instructors all over the world.

The information on the NSL website between 1998 and 2003 is still available, and the NSL News uses it once in a while for new stories. It is one of the many NSL goals to feed in as many of these earlier stories once in a while and fill the NSL Archives with as much content as available.

The NSL 2006 pages still offer the access to all currently networked leagues, the previously registered teams, all NSL Profiles, the whole NSL Shop, previously registered skydiving centers and all the stories of the media. Only the databases for the scores, the NSL-TV files, NSL News, the competition draws and the event schedule were emptied and wait for the new 2006 information.

PB Fire lineup of 2006
According to Jan Klapka's plans and the natural progression of the NSL competition classes, two of last year's Rookie Class teams, Crazy Dragons and Relative Team, moved up into the A Class this year. Despite the first eight blocks, both teams started off on the same scoring level where they performed in the Rookie Class last year.

In addition, PB Fire joined the A Class competition as the third contender. PB Fire has been a part of the league since 2006. Original member Jaroslav Hrstka guided the team through the AAA Class meets in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

PB Fire then took a complete break in 2009, and Jaroslav Hrstka now came back with a completely new lineup. Jan Vajc, Martina Hejná and Veronika Hrstkova have joined the team, Marcela Hejná was filming PB Fire at the first meet in 2010.

Scores of the SSL Valentine's Meet 2005
The event schedule has already received the dates of three leagues (Texas, Southwest, Florida). New dates will be added as soon as they become available. The first new scores will be posted on February 18 - 19 when the Southwest Skydiving League kicks off the 2006 season with the Valentine's Meet at Skydive Arizona in Eloy.

The NSL News will most likely be live on site in Arizona and offer up-to-date information of the competition and also of USPA's BOD Meeting on the same weekend in Phoenix at the same time. The SSL Valentine's Meet will most likely offer the first 2006 NSL-TV videos, as well. However, other meet videos, such as NSL Championship 2005 jumps, will still be uploaded in the meantime and offered for viewings in the Archives 2005.

With the NSL 2006 website back in full swing, content for the upcoming season can also be provided by teams and individuals. The NSL News is always interested in changes of previous line-ups, new teams and other 2006 information. The NSL headquarters is also interested in feedback and alerts of any flaws that possibly come along with the transfer of the databases.

Relative Team of 2009 moved up into the A Class
PB Fire joined the A Class with the new lineup, and the first scores in this category promise more very exciting competition at the upcoming meets this year. The Crazy Dragons won the first Czech A Class battle with a 10.0 average.

Jan Klapka has three new Rookie Class lineups this year who continue to add to the Czech 4-way community from the bottom up. The Relative Team, which was just founded in 2009 and competed with the first lineup in last year's Rookie Class, added a second lineup to the Czech league.

The original lineup of 2009 has moved up into the A Class. Petr Beránek, Alena Majkovská, Luboš Pinkava and Daniel Suchý have formed the new Rookie Class lineup, the Relative Team B, with Josef Stolin on camera. The other two new Rookie Class lineups, Hot Dogs and Harasim Speed, battled for the first victory this year in a 3-point race.

New generation: Rookie Class winner Hot Dogs
Jan Klapka reported that he was very lucky with the weather at the season opener. He said that the weather has not been very favorable so far in Europe. However, he was able to complete all six rounds with all eight teams on one day.

He was very happy with the outcome of the first meet this year and considers the participants a new generation of Czech 4-way teams and competitors. Three other strong Czech AAA Class teams did not attend the meet, including his own Bad Boyz. The fact that he had three new Rookie Class lineups and that last year's newcomers moved up into the A Class this year are very encouraging.

First meet in the A Class: Crazy Dragons
He also explained that AAA Class team BBF was only a team for the meet. He and another Bad Boyz member, Václav Prokeš, guided Renata Mazelová and Petr Štastný through a fun day of 4-way competition.

Accord was the second team in the AAA Class competition and is one of the original teams of the first CZSL season in 2005. Zbxynek Ulbrych, Dana Stanková, František Cejka and Jirí Rulf have been competing and having fun together in the AAA Class ever since the leagues was launched. Petr Bubák Petr is on camera for Accord.

The next meet is scheduled for June 26 and will hopefully also feature the missing AAA Class top contenders of 2010.
