... that NSL Gloves fly for the World Team in Thailand?
posted Feb 4th, 2006 -
The World Team is currently in Thailand trying to bring the world record for the largest formation up to the numnber of 400. Former 8-way world champion and IPC President BJ Worth has been organizing and leading the World Team for many years. He has also organized the Kaleidoscope Dives of SkyQuest since the inauguration of the event in 2001. His master spotting expert, Roger Ponce de Leon, is also working on getting everybody back to the landing area in Thailand. SkyQuest's Team Elite organizer Lou Tommaso is a First Officer of the World Team.
The National Skydiving League is not directly involved with the record events in Thailand. However, the NSL News has mentioned many of the participating skydivers in other stories. The list of the World Team participants includes many familiar names of former and current Formation Skydiving competitors and also several officials:
Craig Girad (Arizona Airspeed, USA)), Solly Williams (DeLand Majik, USA), Doug Park (Team Fastrax, USA), Kirk Verber (Arizona Airspeed, USA), Marco Arrigo (Sinapsi PD, Italy), Eric Heinsheimer (Golden Knights, USA), Eliana Rodriguez (Arizona Airspeed, USA), Elena Vertiprakhova (Russia), Stéphane Zunino (France), Marc Hoornweg (Netherlands), Anatoly Zhirov (Russia), Victor Kravtsov (Russia), Gary Nemirovsky (Airtite, Australia), Flemming Noddegaard (Denmark), Richard "Rambo" Calledare (Teiwaz, USA), Pål Bergan (Norway), Øyvind Buer (Arcteryx, Norway), Tore Buer (Arcteryx, Norway), Ole Petter Hjelle (Arcteryx, Norway), Ari Laukkanen (Finland), Ditta Valsdottir (Arcteryx, Norway), Mats Svensson (Sweden), Michel Lemay (Evolution, Canada), Edward "Bushman" Anderson (Sweden), Rob Laidlaw (Canada), Rob Colpus (United Kingdom), Andy Scott (United Kingdom), Didier Boignon (France), Randy Garman (Carolina Skydiving League, USA).
This line-up could be continued much longer easily, and the introduction of all VIP's in Thailand would fill many pages and make many NSL News stories. The complete list can be found at the website of the World Team.
While the NSL News can only report from the headquarters in DeLand, the NSL Shop is directly involved in the record attempts in Thailand. BJ Worth asked the NSL to produce the official gloves for the World Team's 400-ways. The shipment arrived on time, and BJ Worth reported that the participants were very happy with the product, which was sponsored by Aerodyne. The traditional NSL Gloves were obviously still used, as the picture shows, before the World Team Gloves arrived in Thailand.
The NSL Gloves usually bring up the team averages automatically by one or two points for the users. This time, the NSL News and the NSL Shop have to guarantee a complete formation. The first two 400-way days are history, there are five more days for the World Team to complete the new record formation. The World Team website offers daily updates of the record attempts, and the NSL News sends the best wishes for good luck and successful jumps to Thailand.
