Did You Know...

... that more Air Force teams have joined the AA Class/Intermediate Class competition?

Scores of the first CSL 2006 competition
posted Apr 11th, 2006 - The Colorado Skydiving League added a total of four teams to last weekend's field, three teams in the AA/Intermediate Class and one Rookie Class team. The NSL News story on March 4 had announced new leadership for the CSL 2006 season with Travis Roth as the new CSL Director.

Travis Roth worked hard to prepare the league for the first meet, and he was glad to report a successful season opener at the Mile-Hi Skydiving Center last weekend. The two teams of the Air Force Academy took the first two places in the AA/Intermediate Class, while "Mayhem" did not have any competition in the Rookie Class.

Travis Roth reported that a local sponsor, Deli Zone, provided sandwiches Saturday Night, and Deep Rock Water "kept the CSL teams and competitors hydrated". He added that the Mile-Hi Skydiving Center "was also a perfect host, the Otter was great, and the office staff made our life wonderful."

The scores of the competition have also been posted at the separate CSL website. Travis Roth said that "all the teams did real well, and it was super fun to watch all the teams' videos as a judge. Having two Air Force teams and two civilian teams competing was a treat!"

The CSL Director received support from the Air Force Academy teams, which left a strong impression: "They left a great impression on me in terms of quality of training and in the way they communicated and worked with the league to make my life easy."

The Air Force Academy brings two more competitive line-ups into the AA Class competition with Air Force 7XY and Air Force BOS. Another AFA line-up, CAD, had already competed at the SSL Valentine's Meet 2006 in February. These three teams are now holding the second, third and fourth position in the current AA/Intermediate Class rankings.

Travis Roth added his impressions of the other teams' performances: "Levitation was working on stop drills in the team's training, and you could see a lot of improvement as the day progressed. They are going to be fun to watch all season, and they are going to represent Colorado's civilian jumpers well at the major 2006 events."

The Colorado Skydiving League also had a very new team last weekend, team "Mayhem", which just started out. CSL Director Travis Roth expects more from the Rookie Class team's line-up than the scores showed last weekend:

"The newest team, Mayhem, is just starting out. They are working hard, and what you don't see in the scores is the awesome improvement they showed in two jumps that were not part of the draw, but they did as training drill jumps for their 4th and 5th jump. The random work they did in those jumps would have shown a better score for the day - if it was part of the draw. With a new team and one fill-in member, I was impressed with their attitude and hard work, and I expect great things from them too."

The second CSL meet of the regular season is scheduled for May 6 - 7. The Colorado Skydiving League provides a free CSL T-shirt with the registration of a new team.
