The first GSL meet of the season was held at the10th Annual Skydive Monroe Boogie with thanks to Paul Fayard, and his CASA. With all teams exiting at 10,500 with 35 seconds of working time the meet went without a hitch. Seven teams competed at this year’s GSL season opener with three Rookie Class teams: GT Air Lock, Funnel Cakes, and Fresh Meat.Fresh Meat was a pick-up team with boogie jumpers from across the southeast. Funnel Cakes is the local Monroe team competing together for their second year. GT Air Lock is the new Georgia Tech team from Skydive Atlanta and won the Rookie Class competition.M4.1 and Intrepid competed in the A Class and both had a great meet. Intrepid is home at the Atlanta Skydive Center following the foot steps of M4. The team has more training and a trip to this year's USPA Nationals on the agenda. M4.1 already competed at last year's USPA Nationals. Last weekend's line-up did a great job without their original inside center, Chris Davidson, who was injured earlier this year. The AAA Class competition had two teams from the Atlanta Skydiving Center racing neck to neck throughout the whole meet. Inviscid is the reigning USPA National Collegiate Skydiving Champion of 2003. Kinesis is a newly formed team with experienced competitors. Inviscid and Kinesis ended up tied after six rounds. It looks as if this competition is going to be a fun race of the Georgia Skydiving League all year long. GSL Director Doug Glover expects great things to come from these teams in the near future.Skydive Monroe hosted a cook-out with roaming dz.com master chef Chris Spence for the GSL teams and competitors after the competition was completed. The party included the awards ceremony. GSL Director Doug Glover would like to thank all of the competitors and staff for making the meet a success and hopes to see everybody at the next GSL competition on May 29 at the Atlanta Skydiving Center.
