... that the NSL SkyVenture Competition results of May 15 are now posted?

posted May 24th, 2004 - The NSL headquarters completed the update of the May 15 competition weekend just in time. The results of the NSL SkyVenture Competition were the only missing piece. Last weekend's scores and meet stories will begin arriving today and will be posted as soon as they are available. Meets were scheduled for the Midwest Skydiving League, Michigan and the Ranch. The European Skydiving League had two additional events in Denmark and Finland.

- Make Your Choice -
The overview of the May 15 scores is once again posted below, including the handicapped results of the NSL SkyVenture Competition. Five rounds were used in the AAA Class, and DeLand Majik left all other teams in the dust. Majik had already a 2004 scoring history with the 21.3 meet average at the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2004. Then came the fast draw from the Netherlands when Majik attended their second meet of the season on home turf in DeLand. The 21.3 average surely was a great score in March and would make many teams very happy. However, it was easy for Majik to improve this average with the sequences of the May 15 competition.

SkyVenture Orlando
AAA Class winner DeLand Majik at SkyVenture Orlando
Most of the other AAA Class teams attended their first competition of the 2004 season. Their first three rounds of the meet determined the average for the handicap. Only Empuriabrava Red Bull, Windline Lightning and Sebastian Teiwaz had already previous meet results as DeLand Majik. The Spanish team improved its average from 13.5 to 15.7 points and still ended up far behind the US national team. Windline Lightning and Sebastian Teiwaz could not take advantage of the faster draw with different line-ups at the last meet. Both FSL teams scored actually lower compared to their previous meets. DeLand Majik wins 30 minutes of free SkyVenture tunnel time in the AAA Class and will most likely use it in Orlando. The team deserves this reward after the stellar performance on May 15, congratulations.
NSL SkyVenture Competition winner Imagination
The situation was different in the AA Class. Carolina Ice won the May 15 competition before handicap with a higher meet average compared to the team's first competition of the 2004 season (10.0 - 10.8) and secured a clear nationwide lead in the AA Class rankings. It was not good enough to shake off another team of the Carolina Skydiving League. Team Imagination improved their meet average more significantly (5.2 - 7.2) than Carolina Ice and took the first place in the AA Class after handicap. The all-female team wins 30 minutes of free SkyVenture tunnel time and can use it at SkyVenture Orlando or Perris SkyVenture. Two more CaSL teams slightly improved their previous meet averages. The handicapped scores of all other teams were calculated after their first three rounds.
NSL SkyVenture Competition winner Pickup4
The A Class had only the two FSL teams (Pickup4, Zero Tolernace Miami) competing in the USA. All the other of the ten teams in this category attended their first 2004 meets in Europe. None of the A Class teams had previous scores, thus the first three rounds were used for the handicap, as well. The handicapped scores were calculated after five rounds. The Pickup4 members (Tim Webb, Paul Bertorelli, Bob Domeier, Anneli Dalstroem) used the first three rounds to get familiar with each other and won or tied the highest scores for each round except the first one. Pickup4 took the first place before and after handicap and receives ten minutes of SkyVenture tunnel time.
CaSL team Missing Slot
Two Rookie/Introductory Class teams competed on the same weekend, Funnel U in Texas and Missing Slot in South Carolina. The CaSL teams of the Introductory Class have only 35 seconds of working time, and the exit formation is always a Meeker. The Texas Skydiving League uses three different exit formations. Missing Slot attended their second meet of the 2004 season and confirmed their previous scoring level (7.5 - 7.3). The team consists of Jackie Smith, Nadia Craig, Marie Rudd, Stuart Massey and Joe Reid (Video) and plans to attend the NSL Championship 2004 at Fantasy of Flight. The SkyVenture certificates will be delivered to all winning teams very soon. NSL-TV of the Southwest Skydiving League is next, while we are waiting for information of last weekend's events.
