Did You Know...

... that the new NSL-TV show features the Southwest Skydiving League?

posted May 26th, 2004 - It took the NSL-TV much longer than expected to make the footage of the Southwest Skydiving League available for the valued audience. However, the meet video has now been processed and edited, the teams have been identified, hopefully all correctly.

Round one of all the teams that attended the third meet of the Southwest Skydiving League is posted at the NSL-TV page. Arizona Blade (AAA), Elsinore GT (AAA), Perris Precision (AA), Perris Rebels (AA) and Giftwrap (A) are featured on the front page.

Arizona Blade's round one in Perris
The first SSL footage of the 2004 season also introduces new teams, including Arizona Blade, and shows impressive performances.

Blade consists of player coaches Thomas Hughes (former XL member) and Mark Kirby (former Airspeed member) in the center positions, plus Natasha Montgomery and Beat Steffen on point and tail. Blade had scored a 13.7 meet average at their first 2004 meet in Eloy and finished the third meet in Perris with a 15.3 average.

Perris Precision's round one in Perris
Three of the five AA Class teams (Perris Precision, Perris Rebels, Elsinore Equinox) returned from the SSL 2003 season and took the first three places at the May meet in Perris.

Precision with Dan BC and the Rebels with Nina Kuebler both had player coaches filling a slot, while Equinox competed with their 2004 line-up (Kevin Thompson, Rob Cope, Steve Simar, Don Mullenix). Elsinore Fuse with Chris Luff, Caitie Unkovic and Morgan Dunn was guided by player coach Lou Ascione. The Perris-Ites consist of Bill Morrison, Debbie Jasek-Parisi, Laurie Ross, Wayne Clarke and Terry Weatherford on video.

Giftwrap's round one in Perris
Round one was also a sequence with only block moves for the only team in the A Class, Giftwrap with Steve Salomon, Dominic Guzman, Justin Shekowski, Lito Aralar and Mauro Ravanelli.

Most of the team members attended their first 4-way competition. SSL Director Pamela Stevens mentioned in her meet story that "...this division certainly made up for in learning and spirit what it lacked in competition".

Hopefully, there will be more teams joining the A Class competition in the upcoming meets. Giftwrap finished the six-round competition in Perris with a 3.3 average and posted their highest score in round one with six points. Enjoy the new NSL-TV show.
