Did You Know...

... that the Georgia Skydiving League beat the weather on the second day of the meet?

Georgia Skydiving League AAA Class team Inviscid
posted Jun 9th, 2004 - The second GSL meet of the season was held at Atlanta Skydiving Center in Cedartown, Georgia on May 29th. Five teams showed up ready to compete: Inviscid and Kinesis in the Advanced Class and GT Airlock, GT Fusion, and Intrepid in the Intermediate Class. Unlike the first meet of the season at Skydive Monroe, poor weather kept the teams on the ground for the duration of the day. The teams were released early in the evening.Because the meet had to be continued on Sunday, neither Intrepid nor GT Airlock was able to return to compete in the Intermediate Class. However, GT Fusion, a second Georgia Tech team for the 2004 season, was able to return. GT Fusion posted excellent scores for their first meet, averaging a 4.8 over 4 rounds. The Intermediate Class competition between the two Georgia Tech teams, GT Airlock and GT Fusion, should be very exciting this season as they prepare for the U.S. Collegiate Championships in December. Inviscid (formerly GT Inviscid) members Allison Yasitis and Brian Timberlake are very excited about the growing 4-way presence at Georgia Tech and are hoping these teams will be able to continue their successful Georgia Tech presence at Collegiates. GSL veterans Intrepid will also be a strong presence in the Intermediate Class as they prepare for the U.S. National Championships in October. The competition in the Intermediate Class this season should be very exciting.

Once again the Advanced Class competition was between Atlanta Skydiving Center teams Kinesis and Inviscid. After a tie at the first meet of the season, both teams were eager to compete again. Kinesis was off to a great start, picking up several points on Inviscid in the first few rounds. Inviscid picked up the pace towards the end of the meet however, tying Kinesis in two rounds. It wasn.t enough, however, and Kinesis won the Advanced class with a 12.3 average, ahead of Inviscid.s 10.3. Both teams are training hard and looking for improvements for the next GSL meet.GSL Director Doug Glover would like to thank all the competitors and staff who were able to come out for the second meet of the season and make it a success, despite the weather. The next GSL meet will be held June 26th at Skydive Atlanta in Thomaston, Georgia. If you are interested in forming a team for the next meet (or any meet) please refer to the teambuilding page on the left for tips and contact information.
