Did You Know...

... that three Austrian teams scored a new national record on the NSL SkyVenture Competition weekend in June?

SkyVenture Orlando
posted Jul 12th, 2004 - The Belgian team Hayabusa was the best AAA Class team on the June 26 meet weekend, as the NSL News reported on July 5th. The 18.5 meet average was more than enough to qualify as the Belgian national team for the 2004 world meet. However, this result still did not win the free tunnel time of the NSL SkyVenture Competition in the AAA Class that weekend.

The 30-minute certificate made the trip across the Atlantic anyway. Another Belgian team, Diva, won the competition after handicap. Diva had attended the first Belgium Skydiving Trophy (BST) meet of the 2004 season and finished with a 10.0 average in May. The same team scored a 13.3 average after the six rounds that counted for the NSL SkyVenture Competition on June 26. Hayabusa had scored 16.8 in May and 18.5 in June and still could not beat the 3.3 progression of the other Belgian team. It was a meet weekend with only the Georgia Skydiving League competing for the NSL. Team Inviscid ended up in the middle of the AAA Class field. The certificate is on the way to Diva in Belgium.
Austrian team 4Matrix with coach Solly Williams and NSL Gloves
Another exciting race within the competition of the European Skydiving League took place in Austria where three teams went neck to neck throughout the whole meet. 4-Matrix, FILA and Monkey Circus finished within six points with 4-Matrix winning the meet one single point ahead of FILA. All three teams exited from the same plane load when each of them scored a new Austrian record of 25 points in round six (9-F-E-O). 4-Matrix, FILA and Monkey Circus will share the new record until the next fast round will be drawn in Austria. The same three teams will battle once again in August for the one and only Austrian slot at the world meet in Croatia. The Austrian national championship is scheduled for August 12 - 15.
German team 4Skyhigh
The A Class was also dominated by European teams before and after handicap. BST team Sparks took the first place before handicap with an 8.5 average. The German team of the Deutsche Sky Liga (DSL) 4Skyhigh placed second before handicap and won the NSL SkyVenture Competition after handicap. 4Skyhigh came from a 3.8 average in May and finished the four-round meet in June with a 7.3 average. This progression was more than enough to win the A Class. GSL team GT Airlock took the third place after handicap for the NSL and will still receive the additional 10-minute certificate for the A Class competition. 30 minutes of SkyVenture tunnel time go to Germany.

The Belgium Skydiving Trophy introduced the Rookie Class at this meet and enjoyed two new teams joining the league. BST Director Willy Boeykens reported that Sky Rockets and Puzzle had a great time and learned a lot at their first competition.
