... that last weekend's events included a high-profile international competition in Europe?

The current overview of last weekend's scores offers a colorful mixture of teams that competed at the Texas Skydiving League event in Dallas and at three different locations in Germany. The overview is not even complete yet since the scores from Belgium are still missing.
One of Germany's Deutsche Sky Liga events, the "Nuggets Cup" attracted additional teams, which are not regulars at the DSL competitions. In fact, three national teams from Europe used last weekend's opportunity to test their skills at the Leutkirch drop zone in the southern part of Germany. Each of the events applied the same NSL competition draw.
Endeavour visited from Switzerland and found serious competition with the German national team EADS. Both teams faced each other directly at the Mondial 2003 in France last time. Endeavour finished in sixth position with an 18.7 meet average after nine rounds in September 2003. EADS placed eighth with a 17.2 average last year in Gap.
Endeavour had to change their line-up and recently replaced Center Outside Nina Kuebler with the Swiss 4-way veteran Mike Vetter. EADS continued with the same line-up of 2003. The German team also competed at the IPC Anton Malevsky Memorial World Cup 2004 just a few weeks ago and finished with a 17.0 average after ten rounds in Russia.
The teams at the competition in Leutkirch, Germany, completed only four rounds due to inclement weather. However, team EADS clearly dominated over the Swiss team and the whole competition with an impressive 17.5 average after four relatively slow rounds. It seems as if these two national teams might change their ranking order at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving in September in Croatia. Without a serious medal contender from Norway and the United Kingdom the German team will even have a chance to move up to the fifth position.
Endeavour will probably come back in Croatia on a significantly higher scoring level, and Belgium (Hayabusa), Denmark (Danez) and possibly other countries have their eyes on the fifth place in Croatia. The German team still seems to be the strongest contender after last weekend's competition and this statement.
The German national team in the Women's Class, Chicas, completed three of last weekend's rounds, as well. As EADS, the Chicas had just returned from Russia. The best Texas Skydiving League AAA Class team, Dallas Thunder, could not keep up with the two national teams from Germany and Switzerland. However, Thunder posted the highest meet average after six rounds and had a very close race with two other German teams throughout the first four rounds.
The scoring table will hopefully be updated with the scores from Belgium soon.
