Did You Know...

... that the Norgies had a 21.5 record reunion at the 2004 Nationals last month?

SSL team briefing at Skydive Perris
posted Aug 11th, 2004 - The Southwest Skydiving League registered record participation last weekend in Perris when 18 teams competed at the fifth SSL meet of the regular 2004 season. The scores are posted, and they are impressive. Arizona Blade continued the team's consistent scoring progression (13.7 - 15.3 - 16.8 - 17.7) at the team's fourth SSL 2004 competition.

The U.S. national team in the Women's Class, Synchronicity, attended the first competition this year with the same line-up as in 2003 and seems to be ready for the next challenge at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving in September in Croatia. Synchronicity finished the six-round meet in Perris with a 16.7 average.

Ten teams competed in the AAA Class competition and seven teams in the AA Class. One team signed up for the A Class competition in Perris. The NSL News will soon follow up with the more detailed meet story, pictures and videos of the competition jumps.

In the meantime, Lise Aune, Norwegian head coach, provided an update of the situation in Norway. The national championship of Norway was held in July. The DeLand Norgies had a reunion of the original line-up with Lise Aune, Carl-Erik Tuv, Pal Kolbenstvedt and Torstein Valen and finished the competition with a 21.5 average after eight rounds.

The new national team with Ditta Valsdottir, Ole Petter Hjelle, Tore Buer, Oyvind Buer and Morten Sondrol on video placed second with a 16.3 meet average and continues to increase the team's performance and scoring level. Arcteryx has already been selected as the new national team and will represent Norway at the world meet. The meet results of the DeLand Norgies at the national championship have no impact on the selection of the national team.

The Norgies also competed with the new Norwegian talent in the Intermediate Class competition. Lise Aune's team (DeLand Delight with her husband Nicolai) won the first place. Pål Kolbenstvedt's team (Bootieflyers) finished in second place, Carl-Erik Tuv´s team (1 stort og tre smalahove) in third and Torstein Valen´s Cirkus Redbull in fourth.

Coach Lise Aune confirmed the situation of the national team for Croatia: "The results from the nationals will not change the line-up for Croatia. We have retired and the new team has taken over, so that´s how it goes! It was great fun though to do a 21.5 average, which is the highest average ever at any Norwegian nationals."
