Did You Know...

... that the latest NSL-TV features the fast FSL round in May?

posted Aug 12th, 2004 - The last update of the NSL-TV coverage includes a new round of the Florida Skydiving League May meet. Round two was the random sequence (C-E-F-L-K) that helped DeLand Majik to a 25.5 meet average after six rounds. Majik scored 41 points within working time and kept the jump still so clean that the Malevsky Cup judges were impressed when judging it inofficially in Russia.
Kewara's round two of the FSL May meet - see video
The Italian national team of the Women's Class, Kewara, took advantage of the fast sequence, as well, and lifted the team's meet average to 16.8 after six rounds with a score of 27 points in working time. The sequence of this round is presented by the Italian team this time. The video shows a little meltdown at the very end of the jump, which is well out of working time.

It is very challenging for a whole team to remain focused and sharp for a long time period with a pure random sequence. 35 seconds can feel like an eternity if the sequence flows well. DeLand Majik simply quit when they were sure that working time was over and began playing. Kewara continued when the working time was over and the concentration level dropped. The Italian team still found back the rhythm for another page.

Synchronicity at work last weekend in Perris
Kewara will compete with the U.S. team Synchronicity at the world meet in September. The U.S. team attended the first meet last weekend in Perris and posted a 16.7 meet average after six rounds. Kewara's 16.8 and Synchronicity's 16.7 averages seem to be close. However, last weekend's competition draw was significantly slower compared to the sequences of the FSL meet in May. Kewara competed later again at the Malevsky Cup 2004 and finished the 10-round meet with a 14.0 average. It is impossible to compare the scores directly. Both teams will probably know much better how the scores really compare when they jump the same sequences during the training.

The world meet in Croatia begins on September 18. There will most likely be a third team in contention for the medals of the Women's Class. France was only shortly behind Italy at the Mondial 2003 and has trained with the same line-up in 2004. The race for the medals will probably take place between the U.S. team, Italy and France since UK's V-Max and Norway's Norgie Girls retired after winning the gold and silver medals last year.

Weather situation in Florida on Thursday
The NSL-TV is waiting for the meet video from Perris to present the teams that competed last weekend, including Synchronicity. The fast round two of the FSL May meet will be featured for a few more days. More FSL footage will follow after the upcoming weekend and the competition in Lake Wales. According to the weather forecast, Hurricane Charlie should be done with Florida on Friday evening and let the FSL teams beging competing on schedule Saturday morning.

The AAA Class competition promises a lot for the FSL/NSL weekend. DeLand Mojo, DeLand Scape and Sebastian Teiwaz have line-ups that guarantee high scores and exciting footage. The A Class teams from Lake Wales, Sebastian and Skydive Miami are ready to challenge each other once again, as well. The first FSL scores will probably be posted already on Saturday. Five other leagues will also compete in the USA this weekend, while additional meets take place in Europe. Stay tuned.
