Did You Know...

... that the CSC Sirens are two points away from the 10-point average?

CSC Sirens prepare a competition jumps last weekend
posted Jun 28th, 2006 - The Midwest Skydiving League completed its second meet of the 2006 season without teams from Skydive Chicago. A separate skydiving event kept especially the female competitors from attending the meet at the Chicagoland Skydiving Center. However, five teams still made it a successful competition in Hinckley with great scores.

The CSC Sirens once again improved the team's meet average in its third competition of the 2006 season. The 9.7 average also won the first place on last weekend's AA Class leaderboard. NPSL team Microburst has held the top position with a 9.0 average until the scores from the Midwest were added. Scott "Drew" Hickok, MWSL co-director, wrote the meet story for the NSL News:

What a great competition! The MWSL was blessed with beautiful weather for it's 2nd competition of the 2006 season. The Chicagoland DZO's brought in a 2nd plane to help keep everyone in the air. And the manifest staff kept everything turning for us. Thanks to those at CSC for making this one of the fastest competitions we've ever had in the MWSL. We were done early enough for some teams to make multiple training jumps after the meet was complete.

CSC Rubicon made the team's 2006 debut. The team had solid exits and smooth flying throughout the day. They noted a few things they want to work on, and they were back to training as soon as the competition was over.

The CSC Sirens continued there quest for the elusive 10-point average. They almost had it, even with this slow draw. According to meet coach Alan Butt, the Sirens' round six was some of the best flying we've ever seen in the MSWL. Not only are these women getting better, they are having fun doing it. The hard work is paying off for these ladies, kudos to the team and their coach.

Just 4Fun struggled to find anything fun about this draw. The team struggled with brainlocks throughout the day. They were disappointed, but they still had a respectable showing. The team seemed a little off all day, but these guys never say quit. Once they got past the memory issues, they flew very well, if only we could score them on the last 35 seconds of those jumps... They got some good tips on the mental part of the game, so hopefully they get things worked out for the next meet.

AA Class team Just 4Fun
CSC staff member and experienced 4-way competitor Eric Bickel helped organize two new teams for this event. He took the leadership role for Nothing Stuck, which includes three members with under 100 jumps. The guys had to learn a lot, as you might expect. However, they showed some promise, so hopefully the team will stick together.

The other new team was High Maintenance, four women with no 4-way experience. They had a lot of fun and learned a ton! Every time I saw them, they were asking for more coaching, so they lived up to the team name! But seriously, they asked good questions and got the most of meet coach Alan Butt. I'm sure we'll see more great 4-way from these ladies next month.

Scheduling conflicts kept Skydive Chicago's Furies, Cohesion and Chasing Amy from competing this time around. We look forward to see them return to the competition on July 15 when the MWSL is back on their home turf.
