Did You Know...

... that the Czech team Sky Service posted national record scores last weekend?

4-way league in the Czech Republic
posted Jul 27th, 2006 - The NSL News story on May 30 already updated the NSL audience on the situation in the Czech Republic and how the country's teams have been improving their performance levels this year. League manager Jan Klapka had laid out his plans and goals for the league in the first NSL News article on April 20.

The Czech teams competed last weekend for the third time this season, and the meet story has been posted at the web pages of the league. Unfortunately, the NSL News is unable to translate from this language, and the Czech speaking Teiwaz member and coach Robert Chromy is currently not available for help.

However, the Czech league manager provided some information in English, and the posted scores speak their own language, as well. Team Sky Service caught the most attention in the Czech Republic. The Czech national 4-way team for the World Meet 2006, coached by Robert Chromy, posted record scores last weekend.

Czech league manager Jan Klapka had mentioned in April this year that he was working on raising the performance level in his country: "We wanted to begin catching up with the rest of the skydiving world in knowledge and skills, and it is happening." It was already happening in April, and it has continued to date.

He added in April: "We have a lot of fun, which is the main purpose of the whole project anyway, and the scoring level has gone up significantly ever since the inception of the league." That was his comment at a time when his best two teams had just reached the 10.0 average for the first time in the country's history.

Jan Klapka, coach Robert Chromy and the Czech skydiving community must be excited to see that the Czech national team Sky Service posted a 13.0 average at last weekend's 6-round competition. The results included two 18-pointers in rounds one and four. The meet average and the 18-pointers are both new national records for the Czech Republic.

The weather on meet day in the Czech Republic was very hot and reminded the Bad Boys members on the April meet of the Florida Skydiving League in Lake Wales. The Bad Boys with Jan Klapka in the line-up had visited Florida for a training camp in DeLand and attended the FSL competition, as well.

However, all rounds were completed in the early afternoon last weekend, and the weather was obviously inspiring for the teams. It was not only Sky Service that posted great scores. In fact, each team completed the competition in the Czech Republic with the best meet average of the 2006 season.

There was also a new team, the Skywalkers, which competed in the A Class. It was the first time that a Czech team signed up in a different competition class. All Czech teams have competed only in the AAA Class in the past. Jan Klapka now plans to include the Rookie Class next year, as well.

The AAA Class teams from the Czech Republic were used to find themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard on the international meet weekends. Sky Service has changed this situation with the 13.0 average last weekend. The national team finished in 7th position out of the 22 teams in the AAA Class.

The Skywalkers began the team's competition career on the very bottom of the A Class leaderboard. However, each Czech team can see how far Sky Service has already come at this point and take it as an example. The Czech national team is now getting ready for the trip to Germany and the first international experience at the World Meet 2006 next week.
