Did You Know...

... that Black Cat reduces the distance to France?

Malevsky Cup
posted Aug 14th, 2006 - The weather is much better today in Russia than the forecast said yesterday. The skies are blue this morning, and the first bus from the hotel to the competition site shuttled the Accuracy competitors once again at 6:00 am. This event starts early in the morning with the first load taking off at 7:00 am.
Accuracy competition on Monday morning
Accuracy depends very much on the wind conditions, which allow competition jumps usually early in the morning and late in the afternoon. The Accuracy event is scheduled for 7:00 am - 9:00 am and will be followed by the next round of the Canopy Relative Work competition.

The 4-way Formation Skydiving teams will follow the CRW teams and finally get to their first round of the meet. The eleven teams had enough time to prepare the jumps carefully since Sunday was a day without any jumping in the 4-way event.

Russian 4-way team prepares for the competition
The events cannot take place at the same time in Stupino since the judges have to share the Omniskore judging system. There are two Omniskore systems on site, but one of them does not have a functioning freeze frame. Chief Judge Klaus Wellens asked the jury for permission to work without the freeze frame, but the jury denied. Now the FS judges have to wait until the CRW jumps are judged and then begin with their work.

Stay tuned, the 4-way teams are now on a call for their first round. This page will be updated later.

Round 1 update

France had another nice opportunity to warm up with an easier sequence and took full advantage. Team members said that it will be different in round two when it becomes more technical.

USA Thunder had bad luck with the video. Parts of the formations were cut out at the bottom of the jump and the frame. A penalty added to the damage, and the 22 points in working time turned into a 17-pointer on the scoreboard.

Former DeLand Majik member and Thunder's coach, Joey Jones, flies the point position for Kelley Fredrickson who is still not ready for jumping after her knee injury and surgery. However, she is in Stupino and cheers for her team.

Round two has been completed, and the judges are working on the scores. The videos will be added to the scores page later.

Round 2 update

The Russian team Black Cat posted the highscore of round two after a clean and fast performance. Black Cat surely has its own style and engineering. The sequences flow more than the formations stop and go, and the continuity plan seems to be more flexible. There is even more to come. NSL-TV already dubbed round three, and Black Cat has more to offer.

The French team members were right when they did not feel too positive about the sequence of round three. Davide Moy mentioned that they had never done Block 18 (Zircon - Zircon) in B-Slots. However, they winged through this round and still posted an 18-pointer.

Team Fastrax recovered very well after a shaky meet opener. The 18-pointer in round two was only inches away from the 19th point and came with a solid and confident performance.

The judges are currently working on round three, and the teams are on calls for round four, the last round for today.

Round 3 update

France Gap Nice struggles with the exit and makes up for it with the quickness. Only three judges saw the completion of the 20th point even though the French team had already completed the Offset of Block 20 (Snowflake - Offset) and was on the way to the Side Buddies of the next block. However, the 20-pointer ended up as the official score.

Fastrax had the cleaner jump and was fast, too. It is hard to find out why France ended up with an additional point.

Finally, Black Cat performed in its own league once again. The 22-pointer was near to perfection and is really worth watching it on NSL-TV/RealXstream.com.

Three Russian teams hold the positions behind the money and continue an internal race.

Round four is in the judging progess, while round three is being uploaded. Stay tuned for the remaining scores.

End of the day

Scores and videos are posted, the NSL News concludes today's coverage and will be back tomorrow. Enjoy the NSL-TV show on RealXstream.com.
