Did You Know...

... that France won another round over Russia?

Malevsky Cup
posted Aug 15th, 2006 - Round six is complete, and the teams move on the way they have looked like before. It was probably the best round for Fastrax by matching the Russian score for the first time and beating France the second time. Fastrax gains confidence by the round and might also be ready for an impressive number in round ten.

The three top positions are taken and don't seem to bring any significant changes. There is probably too much distance between the three top contenders already. However, the extremely fast sequence of round ten has the potential to stir up even the top positions.

US team Thunder in Russia
There is an interesting race for the 6th place on the way though. The international FAI format of the event requires the meet management to execute the cut after rounds nine and ten. Only ten of the eleven teams will make the semi-final round nine, and only six teams will move on to the final round ten.

This means that five teams will not get the chance to use round ten for an average boost. Very understandably, each team is eager to post a record score. The Russian team Sky Tec-BBC currently holds the important 6th place with 97 points. The US teams Synchronicity and Thunder have been battling it out round by round already with each other.

US team Synchronicity at work
They are two (Synchronicity) and three (Thunder) points behind the Russian team. Only one of these three teams will be rewarded with the fast sequence of round ten. Russia's team Synairgy with Teiwaz Lake Wales member Anton Kovalev seems to be in a safe 5th position already.

The skies have completely cleared again, and the teams will get on a call for round seven very soon. Stay tuned, this page will be updated later.

Round 7 update

Black Cat had to accept the first flaw of the meet and lost a point at the bottom of the jump. The Russian team was once again on the way to the highest score of the round when the first Hammer of Block 13 was incomplete at the break, and the team moved on after a short confusion. France ended up with the highscore of the round with 21 points. Fastrax lost the 19th point in the judging room when the freezeframe showed a complete Hammer and only two judges accepted it as a scoring formation.

The race for the 6th place and the sequence of round ten is currently controlled by the Russian team Sky Tec-BBC. Synchronicity lost ground and fell even behind Thunder for the first time. The US team with Joey Jones is in 7th place and three points behind the Russian team in 6th place. There are two more rounds to go before the second cut after round nine, and the meet management plans to complete round eight today.

Change of plans, and the NSL News closes the office for today. Round eight will be done tomorrow morning Russian time.
