Did You Know...

... that Elsinore Vengeance competed with an alternate on August 19?

Elsinore Vengeance with Tye Graven
posted Aug 30th, 2006 - The NSL News catches up with a competition that took place while the NSL office was still on the road. The scores and meet information from the last meet of the Northwest Skydiving League are now available, and NWSL Director Harry Waller wrote the outline of the meet story.

Meet #2 of the Northwest Skydiving League started early on August 19 and proceeded without a hitch. However, it proved challenging for Elsinore Vengeance. Training was going well this year until the team's Point, Lisa Albrecht, broke her leg three weeks ago on the 3rd jump of a 2-day training camp in Oregon.

Lisa Albrecht's meet perspective at the moment
The bad landing fractured her Fibula and came also with a compression fracture on the Tibia. After the surgery, she now has a plate in her right leg and six to eight weeks of recovery time.

The team's alternate, Tye Graven, was available and will take her place until Lisa Albrecht has recovered. Tye Graven was the Outside Center for the Tye Breakers two years ago, and he flew on the North West Express 8-way team, which won the gold medals at last year's USPA Nationals. He was up for the challenge of flying the point position, something he had never tried before.

In Theory prepares a competition jump
Elsinore Vengeance had also a new team videographer in the line-up. Jeff Johnson will be on camera for the team from here on. With two team training jumps for on Friday, the meet start on Saturday morning came quickly. Lisa Albrecht helped with the ground preparations, the team did a great job and pulled off a 10.0 average after six rounds.

The Vengeance members were very pleased with the performance and a fun time had by all. There is plenty of time between now and Nationals. Lisa hopes to be back for the final NWSL September 16th and many more training days.

Cheaters & Beaters, with Harry Waller, Bob Glaeser, Sharon Glaeser, Joe Helfer, Cheryl McClure and Lee Roehrdanz on video, were the team of the meet this week in the Northwest. The team members have jumped together for years and have competed at various levels, both in 4-way and 8-way. However, this was the first 4-way meet for this line-up. Each round was a new experience. The jumps were going very well under the circumstances, and the Cheaters & Beaters had a fabulous time.

Cheryl McClure, back from the Texas floodings, was the NWSL Judge for the August meet and competed throughout the first three rounds as the Inside Center for the Cheaters & Beaters, as well. Bob Glaeser flew the slot for the last three rounds, while Lee Roehrdanz did a great job on amera.

In Theory had a good meet with the team's original line-up: Randy McCoy, Susanne Gronnegaard, Jay Gile and Corey Parker. All teams joined at the end of the meet day to watch the meet videos in the air conditioned judging room, while NWSL Director Harry Waller went back in the air for additional Tandem work.
