... that Block 20 challenged the teams on the hill in round three?

Rookie Class team NotIt of the New England Skydiving League
posted Oct 12th, 2006 - Round 3 of the NSL Playoffs 2006 weekend in Elsinore has now been uploaded, and the scores page has the NSL-TV icon behind all scores that have videos of this round available. Once again, all highscores of round three can be viewed, except the best Rookie Class jump.

Team "NotIt!" of the New England Skydiving League scored a 9-pointer for the 3-point sequence of Random Formations (J-F-L), which was the highest score for round three in the Rookie Class that weekend. NotIt! won the whole Rookie Class competition with a 7.3 average, as well.

The results of the playoffs weekend moved NotIt! up into the 3rd place of the NSL Rookie Class Rankings. Janelle Agin, Charlie Henry, Sara Laware and Phil Martin had posted a 2.8 average at the June meet of the New England Skydiving League. The 7.3 average in September was an impressive improvement. Brian Stephens and Steve "Scuba" Feldman were on camera for NotIt! at these two competitions.

The Rookie Class sequence for round three was identical with the sequence for the A Class. NotIt! missed the highest score of all A Class and Rookie Class teams only by one single point. Skydive City of the Florida Skydiving League posted a 10-pointer and saved the honors for the A Class teams.

The competition in the AA Class between Pulse from the Ranch Skydiving League and Air Force Shockwave from Colorado was one point closer compared to the previous two rounds. Pulse had won rounds one and two by two points, and Shockwave was only one point behind in round three (14 - 13).

Air Force CAD was actually one point ahead of the Shockwave cadets after two rounds. CAD performs with a very dynamic style and showed the team pace in round three, as well. However, Mike Bush (Outside Center), Joe Kreidel (Inside Center), Ryan Regan (Tail), Jon Vaage (Point), with Steve Ramos on camera, had problems with Block 20 (Piver - Viper) and lost four points to Shockwave in this round.

The AAA Class horse race between Perris Fury and Elsinore Gravity continued in round three. Each team had won one round by one point so far. Round three was the first of the next five competition jumps with tied scores between these two teams.
Support the NSL
The situation was reversed compared to the previous round. Perris Fury had a slow start with the challenging Block 20 (Piver - Viper) on the hill. The Perris team was already one second behind Elsinore Gravity after the completion of the first page (12.09 seconds - 13.04 seconds.

However, this time Perris Fury (Chris Farina, Christy Frikken, Josh Hall, Uli Steuwe, Karen Lewis on camera) managed to squeeze the 18th scoring point into the working time (34.82 seconds), while Elsinore Gravity (Lou Ascione, Melanie Curtis, John Hamilton, Steven Simar, Pat Newman on camera) completed the 19th point only a few frames outside of the 35 seconds.

This situation tied even the smallest differences in the first three rounds of the competition. Both teams were really locked into this battle, and the remaining videos will show the other details of the path toward shared medals for the first place after seven rounds.
