Two teams competed in the Intermediate Class: the Wissota Shockers from Wisconsin and Last Minute, a pick-up team consisting of Anthony Stone, Bob Seaman, Scott Shell, Becky Murray, and Danny Page. The Wisconsin team came out strong, finishing in first place with a 3.8 average over 6 rounds. We look forward to seeing good things from this team up north throughout the 2005 season and from its members at the Collegiate Nationals in Lake Wales in December. Last Minute also showed well, especially with two members being new to 4-way this season. Last Minute finished in second with a 2.0 average over 4 rounds. Congratulations to the members and we look forward to having more pick-up and new teams training this season.
Finally, three teams competed in the GSL Open Class. Inviscid, comprised of members Doug Glover, Allison Yasitis, Brian Timberlake, and Craig Sellars with Greg Harmon on video, had a good start to the 2005 season by finishing in first place with a 13.3 average over 6 rounds. Inviscid, also coached by Synchronicity member Kim Glover, continues to train at Atlanta Skydiving Center in preparation for the U.S. Nationals in September. PNF (Pink, Nexus, Fusion) consisted of members Mike Gruwell, Jonathan Bartlett, Chris Golden, and Bill Thomasson with Ryan Clough on video. PNF is a compliation of members from the former teams of Mr. Pink, Nexus, and Fusion who train at both Atlanta Skydiving Center and Skydive Atlanta. The pick-up team had a strong showing and finished second with a 12.5 average. The GSL looks forward to seeing PNF at future GSLs this season. Finally, Synchronicity also showed up to compete and finished in third place with a 10.8 average.
Meets 3 and 4 of the 2005 GSL season to be hosted by Skydive the Farm and Skydive Atlanta will be scheduled soon. Competitors will be able to see the dates on the GSL website as soon as they are confirmed. Once again, the GSL would like to thank Chris Spence and the RoamingDZ for hosting the GSL Season Opener and for helping to make it a success. We would also like to thank all the videographers who assisted with the meet. Meet 2 will be at Skydive Monroe on May 28. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
