Did You Know...

... that three Arizona Divewerkz members add 8-way gold medals to the collection?

Northwest Skydiving League competitors launch an 8-way exit formation
posted Oct 26th, 2006 - The field of teams in the 8-way competition of the Intermediate Class is mostly made up of pickup teams, as well. Only Perris 8-Track was apparently organized and trained before competing in Eloy.

Blovi-8 consisted of Byron Deficit Disorder team members (4-way AA/Intermediate Class) and CaliCo (AAA/Advanced Class). The team had not made any jumps together, but had agreed a week before the event to compete together in 8-way. Northwest Skydiving League director Harry Waller competed in this line-up.

Arizona Old Works took the top of the leaderboard in round one and remained there until the meet was completed. The line-up consists of Gary Beyer, Blane Boyton, Lara Eisenberg, Mickey Nuttal, Murel Addison, Cindy Nieves, Mike Cotter and John Coffman, Gordon Lindsey was on camera.

Arizona Divewerkz 4-way line-up
Former Airspeed 8-way world champion Gary Beyer was guiding the team through the Intermediate Class competition, while three members of the 4-way AAA/Advanced Class competition, Arizona Divewerkz, collect a second set of gold medals at the USPA Nationals 2006.

Murel Addison, Blane Boynton and Cindy Nieves competed with Annie Peterson in 4-way and left the rest of the Advanced Class field in the dust. AZDW's videographer Gordon Lindsay is also filming the 8-way team "Arizona Old Works". The team's victory in the 8-way Intermediate Class competition was just as unchallenged as it was for AZDW in 4-way.

Harry Waller with NWSL competitors
Blovi-8 in second place, with Harry Waller, Robert Bonitz, Catherine Coon, Ellen Monsees, Bill von Novak, Julius Frank, Deanna Frank and Jim Hopf, filmed by Tim Monsees, won the silver medals just as easily as Arizona Old Works took the gold medals. The only real competition took place for the bronze medals.

Ranch Radical-8 moved up the leaderboard round by round after a slow start and ended up in third place. However, the Ranch's team was registered as a guest team and could not win USPA medals. Perris 8-Track and Bombproof were separated only by one point after nine rounds.

Perris Fury action
The Perris team with Perris Fury member Chris Farina, one of the 8-way line-ups organized by Perris Fury members, won the last round, as well, and brings the USPA bronze medals to Perris. The NSL News mentioned Perris Fury's 8-way project in the story on October 25, and the bronze medals for Perris 8-Track add credit to the efforts.

Arizona Divewerkz now looks back at three very successful years in the team career. It began with a 9th place in the AA/Intermediate Class at the USPA Nationals 2004, followed by a bronze medal in the same competition class in 2005. This year's event is the peak so far with two gold medals in the 4-way AAA/Advanced Class competition and in the 8-way Intermediate Class.

Support the NSL
The team is not done yet, as the team's Outside Center, Murel Addison, explains: "You have not seen the last of Arizona Divewerkz. We are in negotiations with all of our sponsors and a few new sponsors for 2007." The NSL News will soon follow up with AZDW's plans for the near future.
