Did You Know...

... that Round 2 on NSL-TV features DeLand Groove, Ranch Pulse and Perris Fury?

posted Nov 11th, 2006 - NSL-TV continues with meet videos of the USPA Nationals 2006. Round two has now been uploaded and can be viewed by clicking on the according links below and on the leaderboard. The competition jumps of Perris Fury can also be viewed. The provided link does not instantly download the video file, additional navigation is necessary to get to the videos.

However, the videos of Perris Fury offer the opportunity to compare the reigning 4-way generation (DeLand Groove) directly with the new generation, round by round.

The main difference in the slower sequence of round two (N-21-14) was the the increasing pace of the DeLand team. Perris Fury was keeping up well throughout the first page (10.05 seconds - 10.60 seconds). The second page was already a different ball game. DeLand Groove completed the second page at 18.46 seconds, and Fury was now two seconds behind (20.51 seconds).

The Perris team did not make any mistakes and was even a little bit faster (10.60 - 9.91) on the second page. However, DeLand Groove had studied the first page carefully and confidently switched to a significantly faster pace (10.05 - 8.41 - 8.22 - 8.75) for the remainder of the jump.

DeLand Groove ended up two points ahead of Perris Fury (19 - 17), and the DeLand team was closer to the 20th point than Fury to the 18th point. Both teams would have needed less than a second to complete the next scoring point. Team Fastrax scored 18 points, and both Airspeed line-ups tied Perris Fury with 17 points.

The video of Ranch Pulse's second round is available, as well. The AA/Intermediate Class had a separate competition draw. The sequence of the AAA Class (N-21-14) could have been used for the AA Class. This would have offered the opportunity to compare the scoring and performance level of the AA/Intermediate Class teams with the teams in the AAA Class (Open and Advanced).

However, the judges had drawn ten different sequences for the AA/Intermediate Class competition, and round two included Block 21 (Zig Zag - Marquis) for the AA Class teams, as well (21-M-20). Gold medal winner Ranch Pulse pulled a Meeker to build the first formation of the sequence and finished this round with 12 points.

Pulse had already a 3-point lead after round one and did not take any chances in the second round. Three other teams tied Pulse's 12-pointer (Air Force CAD, Air Force Shockwave, Cross Keys Air Pollution) as the highest score of the round.
