... that Round 7 of the USPA Nationals shows different shapes of Cataccords?

The new week also begins with a new round of NSL-TV. Round 7 of the USPA Nationals 2006 has been uploaded and features once again the winners of each competition class, plus Perris Fury's video of the same round.
DeLand Groove is back on NSL-TV after missing round six. The new US national team for the 2007 season had just broken the tie with Team Fastrax in Round 6 and had the momentum still going in Round 7. Only the DeLand team completed the 21st scoring formation (Cataccord on the top of the 5th page) within working time.
However, the leaderboard shows only a 20-pointer for DeLand Groove since the transition from the exit formation to the first Stardian of Block 6 was not clearly presented to the judges. The front piece had a short moment of level adjustments, and the video angle did not allow the judges to see the total break on the far side of the formation. The first Stardian did not count as a scoring formation for four of the five judges.
Team Fastrax was the only other team that completed Block 1 (Snowflake - Offset) on the 4th page within working time and tied the actual Groove score with its own 20-pointer.
Round 7 was the best round of the meet for Perris Fury, according to the numbers on the scoreboard. It was the only jump where the Perris underdog scored only one point below the highscore of a single round. Fury's 19-pointer was the second highest score of Round 7.
Perris Fury was close to the medal winners here and there and even tied or beat them once in a while (Airspeed Odyssey in Rounds 1 - 4 and Round 7, Black Cat in Rounds 5 and 7, Fastrax in Round 10). However, the actual highscore for a round had always been further away than in Round 7.
DeLand Groove's special style and excellence in engineering becomes obvious once again with a closer look at the shape of the Cataccord (G). Center Inside Shannon Pilcher and Tail Ian Bobo present this formation in a different way compared to the other featured teams.
Tail Ian Bobo is almost in a stairstep position with Center Outside Gary Smith due to the very helpful support by his piece partner Shannon Pilcher. The shape of this Cataccord minimizes Ian Bobo's move to the Stardian and saves a few fractions of a second on each page.
Arizona Divewerkz and Perris Fury both work with "cheated" Cataccords, as well. However, the shape of the formation is different compared to DeLand Groove's Cataccord. The curved shape of the formation increases with the experience of these teams: AZDW > Perris Fury > DeLand Groove.
Arizona Divewerkz posted another sole highscore in USPA's Advanced Class competition with a 13-pointer, which even included a 1-point deduction. The rear piece lost a grip at the completion of Block 6 (Stardian - Stardian) on the first page, and the second Stardian did not count as a scoring formation.
Cross Keys Vision would have tied the 13-pointer but lost its own point at the same spot where DeLand Groove was caught.
Round 7 had the fastest sequence for the teams in the AA/Intermediate Class competition. The NSL News story on October 23 explained already during the event what happened in that round. Ranch Pulse's clean 22-pointer can now be viewed on NSL-TV.
Air Force CAD scored the AA Class meet record of 26 points, which was a new record score for the team at the same time. The 26-pointer was also the highest result of a AA Class team in the 2006 season. More Air Force CAD meet videos will soon follow with the NSL-TV coverage of SkyQuest 2006.
