... that the Golden Knights outscored Airspeed Odyssey and France Maubeuge in Round 3?
posted Mar 5th, 2007 -
The pace of the NSL-TV turn-around times has increased. The next event with great meet videos to come, the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2007, is less than two weeks away. Goal is to complete the NSL-TV coverage of the Valentine's Meet 2007 before the start of the Shamrock Showdown.
The NSL News story on February 28 mentioned that the Golden Knights had provided the NSL News with the video footage of two training jumps, which were rounds three and five of the Valentine's Meet. Round 3 has been uploaded and is currently featured. This brings the first video of the Golden Knights into the picture.
The valued NSL News audience now has the opportunity to compare three of the best teams in the world directly with each other. Airspeed Odyssey and France Maubeuge went neck to neck in Round 3 and both finished with 24 points within working time. The French team was very close to the 25th scoring point (35.03 seconds on the NSL clock).
France Maubeuge's new team videographer, Jean Baptiste Cugerone, had a clean performance this time. However, he was still cautions and staid further away from his team than the judges usually recommend.
Perris Fury could not keep up with the pace of the two top teams in this round and had slower random transitions, as well as slower block times for Diamond - Bunyip (Block 10). The Perris team also lost one scoring point after completing 21 formations within working time.
The Golden Knights were better and faster than France Maubeuge and Airspeed Odyssey in their training jump. The Army team ended up with 26 points after 35 seconds. The French team and Airspeed both kept up with the pace of the Golden Knights throughout the first two pages.
The two extra points were gained when the Golden Knights increased the pace little by little, page by page. Especially the times for Block 10 (3.1 - 3.1 - 2.8 - 2.8 - 2.6) got consistently better every time it came around. The Golden Knights completed the Diamond on the 6th page before the working time ran out.
Arizona Divewerkz had the lowest score of the AAA Class in this round. AZDW lost the team's Tail, Cindy Nieves, right at the exit, and it took a little while until the exit Diamond was completed. The video of Arizone Directe was not available.
Down 5 had problems with the exit, as well, and had to give up the 1-point lead after the first two rounds in the AA Class competition. The AA Class teams had Block 11 (Photon - Photon) in their sequence, replacing the slot-switching Block 10. Black Ice now had a 3-point lead, while Ficken Chuckers posted the second highest score of the AA Class round with a 9-pointer.
