Did You Know...

... that the Pink Pilcher House story continues?

Arcteryx members in the NSL office
posted Apr 18th, 2007 - The Pink NSL News story continues. After reporting on Shannon Pilcher's new color of his house in DeLand on April 12, the NSL News received additional information of the interesting development in the Pilcher/Hjelle case.

PD Factory Team member and reigning 4-way world champion Shannon Pilcher and Norway's Arcteryx member Ole Petter Hjelle have possibly created a new saga that might offer similar entertainment as the Fun Flag has for many years.

New information came from Ireland. Conor King, international Irish competitor of earlier years and current member of a new and promising Irish 4-way line-up, provided the details. His new team had recently worked together with Shannon Pilcher during a 2-week training camp in DeLand.

The Irish 4-way competitors saw the Pink Pilcher house with the language "Skydiver of the Year", painted and written on it by Ole Petter Hjelle and his Norwegian accomplices. They detected a serious flaw in the Norwegian project since Natasha Montgomery is actually the current Skydiver of the Year, which is a title created by the Skydiving Magazine.

Shannon Pilcher and his friend Ian Bobo, also PD Factory Team member and reigning 4-way world champion with DeLand Fire, had earned Skydiving Magazine's title in 2005 when they accomplished great success in skydiving competition and other PD Factory Team projects together.

The Irish 4-way team decided to leave with a parting gift for their coach and planned to modify and correct the paintwork slightly, as Conor King reported:

"We scored out the word THE from Skydiver of the Year and replaced it with LAST, so it read SKYDIVER OF LAST YEAR", suggesting that Pilcher is old news and no longer the Skydiver of the Year. As we all know, this title has past to Natasha Montgomery."

The Irish 4-way competitors had to be careful with the approach and completed the work in the middle of the night before the team departed back home. The photograph of the manipulated language on the Pink Pilcher House shows team members Fenton Murphy and Steve O'Sullivan after completing the job.

Irish mission accomplished
However, the Norwegians currently in DeLand detected the manipulation very early. They were already at work painting the house back to its original pink color with the original language when the Irish team stopped by next morning to inspect their own work at daylight. There is no evidence any longer for the Irish efforts to correct the Norwegian flaw except the photos provided by the Irish team.

The Norwegians did not stop after fixing the Irish interference. They were out for punishment, as well. Conor King reported that his team ran into more trouble before they could leave town: "The Norwegians managed to saturate the inside of our cars with some very strong smelling deodorant in the very short time we were there."

This story smells like a lot more funny updates to come in the future. Additional details and new events of the Pink Pilcher House story can be posted in the NSL Forum, click on the link below.
