... that Fast Fockers made a big step in Carolina?
posted Apr 27th, 2007 -
The past weekend brought the first inter-league competition this year. The Carolina Skydiving League launched the 2007 season with its first 4-way meet at Carolina Sky Sports, while teams of the Florida Skydiving League competed in Lake Wales at the same time.
The report of FSL Meet 2 was already posted with the NSL News on April 23. CASL Director Randy Garman posted a brief summary of his 4-way competition at the CASL website. The combined scores of last weekend's meets have already been posted on the April 21 leaderboard.
Nine teams competed at Carolina Sky Sports, including the Golden Knights with alternate Sean Sweeney who filled in for Matt Davidson. Randy Garman mentioned in his report that the members of the Army team were a great help to run the CASL competition last weekend:
"A big thanks to the Golden Knights who help coach and judge. Eric Heinsheimer was the judge for the meet and he did a fantastic job. Unfortunately after the third round of the meet, Eric also hurt his neck and so the Knights decided to stop jumping. The CASL will be making a donation of $100.00 to the Wounded Warrior Project on behalf of the Golden Knights for their help in judging and coaching of the meet."
Carolina Ice was the second team in the AAA Class competition. Four teams attended the meet in the AA Class. One of these teams came back from last year's CASL season. The Fast Fockers made a big step and moved from the Rookie Class competition in 2006 to the AA Class this year.
The Fast Fockers had attended four meets of the CASL 2006 season in the Rookie Class (6.8 - 5.0 - 7.0 - 9.3) with consistent progression. The first meet of the 2007 season saw the Fast Fockers already with an impressive 7.5 average in the AA Class. This brought the first place of the AA Class competition at Carolina Sky Sports. Only FSC Wind Damaged posted a higher meet average (8.2) in Lake Wales at the same time.
Three CASL teams competed in the Rookie Class, and the guest team "Russian Roulette" won with a 6.8 meet average after four rounds. All teams at Carolina Sky Sports jumped from a Casa.
Norway's national 4-way team Arcteryx won the overall AAA Class competition with a 20.8 average after six rounds. Round 2 of the competition in Lake Wales has now been uploaded and can be viewed on NSL-TV. Carolina Fire posted the highscore of Round 2 with a 10-pointer for a 5-point sequence in the AA Class (2-F-4).
Carolina Fire (2) exchanged the highest scores for single rounds with FSC Wind Damaged (4) and Fast Fockers (2). The FSL team finally won the overall AA Class competition by four points over Fast Fockers.
