Did You Know...

... that the MASL Rookie Class Scramble at Cross Keys was weathered out?

Team Industrial Haze
posted May 1st, 2007 - End of April/early May has not been a very good time of the year for the MidAtlantik Skydiving League in 2006 and 2007. Freefall Adventures at Cross Keys has hosted a special event for the Rookie Class participants of the MidAtlantic Skydiving League in the last two years, and the weather has not cooperated very well at either event.

MASL organizer Cherie Hall and the Cross Keys staff had prepared both events carefully and were excited to introduce MASL 4-way events to the newest Formation Skydiving teams and competitors in the Rookie Class. The 2006 event was scheduled for May 6 and was almost completely weathered out. Two teams were able to complete one round last year.

The situation was not much better last weekend, as Cherie Hall reported. April 28/29 was planned to be the MASL Rookie Class Scramble. The first MASL competition is scheduled for May 19. Last weekend's event was supposed to connect new potential MASL competitors with each other and introduce the MASL activities.

Unfortunately, most of the activities at Cross Keys had to take place on the ground. The perspectives of good enough weather for any skydiving activities were not very promising. However, three teams still staid around and managed to complete one round on Saturday.

Team Nerd won this one round of the Rookie Class event with a 2-pointer. Industrial Haze and Passing Wind both completed one scoring formation in the only jump of the MASL Rookie Class Scramble. These three teams spent the rest of the day waiting for better weather, while other line-ups gave up earlier.

The MASL teams and competitors now hope for better weather at the first official MASL competition in Cross Keys on May 19. The chances seem to be much better. MASL teams completed six rounds on May 20 last year. Six rounds were also completed on May 21 in 2005.
