Did You Know...

... that the Golden Knights competed with John Hoover in the line-up?

Golden Knights with Eric Heinsheimer at the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2007
posted May 25th, 2007 - The scores of the Carolina Skydiving League have been added to last weekend's leaderboard, which is now complete. A total of 34 teams competed at five different locations and made it the biggest field of the 2007 season so far.

Dan Winkelstein managed the CASL meet in Raeford for league director Randy Garman and provided the meet information. The CASL 8-team field included the Golden Knights with a change in the line-up. The NSL News story on April 27 briefly mentioned that Eric Heinsheimer injured his neck at the CASL season opener on April 21.

The injury is more serious than it seemed to be that weekend. Eric Heinsheimer has to take a longer break for surgery and recovery. Former Golden Knight John Hoover has joined the 2007 line-up and is currently training and competing with the Army's 4-way team. Last weekend's CASL meet was the first competition with the new Center Inside.

The Golden Knights completed their own six rounds in Raeford within a 2-hour timeframe and then assisted the other CASL teams once again throughout the whole competition. Eric Heinsheimer was also on site and provided his judging services for the Carolina Skydiving League.

John Hoover was already prepared to retire from the Army in October 2007. Team speaker Brian Krause reported that his team asked John Hoover to come back and train and compete with the Golden Knights after Eric Heinsheimer's injury. He is now filling the Center Inside position, and Matt Davidson has moved back to his former Tail slot.

Carolina Ice
The new line-up has just passed the 100-jump mark and completed some windtunnel time. The current events forced the Golden Knights to cancel the trip to Russia for the Malevsky Cup 2007. The first major competiton for the line-up with John Hoover will be the Money Meet in Raeford. The NSL News will provide live coverage from both events. Additional CASL meets are still on the team agenda for the Golden Knights.

The new Golden Knights line-up began the alternate road to the USPA Nationals 2007 in September with a 19.8 average and is on the top of the AAA Class leaderboard of last weekend's events. Carolina Ice competed in the AAA Class, as well, and improved the team's meet average from 10.5 in April to 11.8 in May.

Z-Team prepares for a jump
Russian Roulette moved up from the Rookie Class at the CASL April meet to the AA Class last weekend and offered Carolina Fire an exciting competition. Both teams ended up tied in 1st place in Raeford with a 7.3 meet average. The Fast Fockers were only three points behind.

The cross-league competition in the AA Class was even more exciting. The three CASL teams had another neck-to-neck race with the two AA Class teams of the Florida Skydiving League, Z-Team and Tunnel Chaos, which competed at Skydve City in Zephyrhills at the same time. Only two points separated the first four AA Class teams from each other after six rounds.
