posted May 26th, 2007 - The World Challenge 2007 at Bodyflight Bedford was obviously a high-profile competition with incredible scores and performances, in 4-way Formation Skydiving competition just as much as in Freeflying. The NSL News live coverage of the event has given enough evidence for that part of the competition.

However, it was also the atmosphere and the meet environment that made the World Challenge 2007 very special. It was fun to be there and entertaining to watch the different activities.

NSL-TV has already shown some exciting flying sessions of the top teams, which were recorded with the NSL-TV camera at Bodyflight Bedford. However, the actual judging videos from the camera mounted at the top of the tunnel chamber have not been shown yet to anybody who was not live at the event site.

Bodyflight Bedford has now completed the work on an event DVD that offers the raw footage of the judging videos. The same DVD also brings across some of the highlights in a very entertaining way. It is not an educational or instructional tool that provides specific flying techniques and tips. The World Challenge 2007 DVD is a summary of the event with highlights from many different perspectives and angles, and the 4-way fans can now also evaluate each competition round.

Both the 4-way competition and freeflying are featured on the DVD. One disc contains an overview of all events and is being presented like a TV show. It is a mixture of action shots, interviews and different scenes from the event site. The second disc separates 4-way competition and Freeflying and shows both leaderboards linked to the raw footage.

The action shots and clips come from several different camera angles. The top perspective from the judging camera is only one part of the action show. The best shots of the flying athletes come from the level perspective where the observer can really see the bodies work in the tunnel air.

An interesting aspect of the interviews on the DVD is the way how freeflyers and 4-way competitors explain their own performances and think of the other events. Both had the unique opportunity to watch each other up close and personal and learn more of the other side.
