Did You Know...

... that the NWSL 2007 season opener was weathered out?

Northwest Skydiving League
posted Jun 11th, 2007 - The first information from last weekend's three scheduled meets did not include any scores. Northwest Skydiving League Director Harry Waller informed the NSL News that the event was weathered out.

The Friday before the competition offered perfect weather with beautiful blue skies at Skydive Oregon. Harry Waller reported that the last preparations for the meet included only logistics: "A few calls about video and babysitters, plus some last-minute pick-up teams."

The situation was still hopeful on Saturday morning at 8:00 am when the participants attended a Yoga and stretching session to get ready for the first take-off. Even the 9:00 am check was still not too bad, as Harry Waller recalled:

"Theresa came into the club house to announce that we have 12,000 feet under the cloud cover. Four teams, including two new Rookie Class teams started to gear up."

That was as far as the Northwest Skydiving League teams would get for the rest of the weekend. Ten minutes later, at 9:10 am, a cold and thick rain started and never let up.

Harry Waller still pointed out a positive aspect of the attemped NWSL 2007 season opener: "Anyway, it was good to see the two new teams 'Death Grip' from Molalla, Oregon, and 'Team Overcast' from Snohomish, Washington. We will try again next month."

The July meet of the Northwest Skydiving Lague is scheduled for July 21 at Skydive Oregon.
