... that Round 10 of the Malevsky Cup 2007 wraps up the NSL-TV coverage?

posted Jul 14th, 2007 - The last round of the Malevsky Cup 2007 has now been uploaded and completes the NSL-TV coverage of the event in Russia that made history with Airspeed Odyssey's 26.0 average after ten rounds.

The last NSL News story of the event, which came along with the videos of Round 9 on July 9, mentioned that the only question was how high the final meet average would be. It was already a fact that Airspeed Odyssey would shatter the previous world record average of 24.1 held by the Russian Sky Panthers.

Andy Delk, Craig Girard, Mark Kirkby, Eliana Rodriguez and Will Pesek completed the incredible performance in Russia with another highscore for Round 10. The 22-pointer was the 5th sole highscore for Airspeed Odyssey, other teams had tied Airspeed's top scores in three rounds, and Black Cat and Fastrax had won the first two rounds of the meet.

Black Cat was able to complete Block 1 (Snowflake - Offset) on the 5th page and 22 points within working time, as well. However, the judges detected an infringement at the 8th scoring formation and reduced the official score to 21 points. Fastrax had a clean 21-pointer and finished with a 24.7 average, which would also have broken the previous 24.1 record average. It was not good enough to keep up with Airspeed Odyssey this time.

The NSL News will still follow up with the promised Airspeed interview that was recorded live at the Malevsky Cup in Russia. Then it will be time to look ahead and evaluate the situation before the next major event of the 2007 season, the Paraclete XP Money Meet 2007, which is scheduled for July 28 - 29 in Raeford. Airspeed Odyssey and Team Fastrax will be challenged by the Golden Knights, and other US top teams will join the race in Raeford. Enjoy the last round of the Malevsky Cup 2007 for now.
