Did You Know...

... that that the SCSL July meet in Elsinore had many interesting aspects?

posted Aug 3rd, 2007 - The short break between the major events offers an opportunity for the NSL News to go back to previous events that have not been covered accordingly yet. The July meet of the California Skydiving League had a world-class field in the AAA Class, and one meet video of Perris Storm's Round 1 was already shown on NSL-TV earlier.

Several additional videos have now been uploaded and feature the SCSL teams of all three different competition classes with either Round 1 or Round 2.

Perris Fury's Round 2 at the SCSL July meet - see video
The NSL News story on July 15 already broke the news that Perris Fury made a strong statement at the meet in Elsinore with a 24.7 meet average after six rounds. The US top contender is now featured on NSL-TV with the sequence of Round 2 in July.

Chris Farina (Inside Center), Christy Frikken (Outside Center), Josh Hall (Point) and Uli Steuwe (Tail) are determined to challenge the three top contenders, Airspeed Odyssey, Team Fastrax and Golden Knights Black, in the race for the gold medals at the USPA Nationals 2007. The 24.7 average shows that the Perris team was not joking when they set their goals.

Perris Storm is in a similar position in Great Britain, and the NSL News story on July 20 already featured Storm's Round 1 in Elsinore. The all-female team is one of the two top contenders for this year's title in the Open Class competition and in the race for the national representation in IPC's female category for the United Kingdom at next year's World Meet in France.

The other team that wants to win the top position in Great Britain is Team Elan. An interesting aspect of the competition in Elsinore was the fact that Arizona Directe's player coach Gary Beyer had once again the opportunity to observe Perris Storm live on competition site. Gary Beyer is married with Elan member Emma Beyer and coaches his wife's team, as well. Final showdown between the two British teams is on the August 18 weekend at the UK Nationals 2007.

Another interesting aspect is the fact that Dan BC has been coaching Perris Storm this year. He had worked with Team Elan in 2006 and won the gold medals of the female 4-way category at the World Meet 2006 in Germany. This year's Elan coach Gary Beyer and Dan BC used to be team mates in Airspeed's 8-way world champion line-ups.

Both coaches will be in Great Britain for the showdown between the two female world-class teams. Dan BC mentioned that they will probably just wait out the probably nerve-wrecking competition: "He and I might just be hiding in the bar until it's over..."

Founding Fathers' Round 2 at the SCSL July meet - see video
The new round of NSL-TV also features the Founding Fathers, the pick-up tam that finished with a 19.8 average at the SCSL July meet in Elsinore. Dan BC, John Hamilton, Christopher Irwin and Pat McGowan enjoyed a fun day of 4-way competition, as the NSL News story on July 16 already mentioned.

Dan BC used the opportunity to challenge the team he coaches and won by five points over Perris Storm. He also beat his former Airspeed team mate and rival coach Gary Beyer, whose team Arizona Directe finished behind Perris Fury, Founding Fathers and Perris Storm with a 18.5 average. Enjoy the meet videos on NSL-TV.
