Did You Know...

... that more freeflyers competed in the MidAtlantic Skydiving League last weekend?

Air Pollution line-up of 2002
posted Aug 16th, 2007 - Cross Keys Air Pollution has been competing in the MidAtlantic Skydiving League almost ever since the MASL was launched in 2001. The NSL News found the first team photo in the NSL Achives of 2002. The first recorded scores in the NSL archives were posted on 31 May 2003 in the AA Class with a 5.5 average.

The team is still around with the same team name and some original members, only the scoring and performance level has changed significantly. Air Pollution still competes in the AA Class, and this year's meet averages (11.3 - 12.3 - 13.9) have moved the MASL team up to the top rankings in the AA Class.

In fact, Cross Keys Air Pollution seems to be the top contender for this year's AA/Intermediate Class gold medals at the USPA Nationals 2007. Original members Rob Fields and Marty Schneider teamed up with Cherie and Karl Schuch this year to pursue the top position in the country. Last weekend's 13.9 average is far above the previous results of other AA Class teams, except the pick-up team for a meet of the Mideast Skydiving League, Mystic Pizza.

Air Pollution line-up of 2007
Air Pollution member Cherie Schuch reported that the MidAtlantic Skydiving League recently promotes Formation Skydiving competition as "RDUB" and that many newly licensed skydivers and tenured freeflyers are up for the RDUB challenge this year. Air Pollution was the only trained team last weekend, while the three other line-ups were formed on site for the meet day.

Air Pollution completed all ten rounds as a competition practice for the USPA Nationals 2007. The Midwest Skydiving League teams had followed the same idea last weekend.

A Class team Meteor(ites)
Meteor had some personnel changes and called themseles Meteorites for last weekend's competition. Two Meteor members of the MASL July meet, Dennis Miller and Rick Javorka, added Jenn Kong and Jerry Shoe to the line-up who had already competed in other meets with other pick-up teams.

Brockwell Sucks More was another pick-up team, also with a few members of the July line-up, which had competed in the A Class competition last month. Carolina Skydiving League Director Randy Garman guided the team through the meet. Freeflyer Kari, free-videographer Chris Heinan and Ed Allen completed the line-up. The "hybrid team" took it even to the next level and competed in AA Class competition.

RDUB jumpsuit for Janice Park
Menage A Quatre even consisted of four accomplished freeflyers who are eager to improve their "RDUB" skills. Two married couples (Martin Brennan + Karole Brennan, Janice Park + Doug Urbany) formed the team, and Janice Park even had to rent an RW suit for the meet. Her husband Doug had won a freeflying medal at USPA Nationals a couple of years ago.

Cherie Schuch said that all the teams had a fun time and worked with each other. After all the jumping was done, competitors gathered for a chili and cheese party to celebrate the final meet of the MASL 2007 season at Cross Keys.
