Did You Know...

... that Perris Fury might not be an underdog any longer?

Team Storm - current leader of the UK Nationals 2007
posted Aug 23rd, 2007 - The NSL News goes back to the July meet of the California Skydiving League at Skydive Elsinore. The videos of Round 4 have now been uploaded and can be viewed on NSL-TV.

The British top contender in the AAA/Open Class, the all-female Team Storm line-up, had the last serious meet test that weekend in Elsinore and improved the June average of 17.8 to 19.0 in July. Team Storm is currently three points ahead of Team Elan after three rounds at the UK Nationals 2007.

Team Storm's coach, Dan BC, can be viewed once again in competition action with the Founding Fathers. Dan BC will compete again for Airspeed at the 8-way competition of the USPA Nationals 2007.

The new videos of the July meet also feature a new round of Perris Fury. The underdog for the USPA gold medals in the AAA/Open class may not be as much an underdog as it may have appeared so far. Airspeed Odyssey, Team Fastrax and the Golden Knights were considered the main contenders this year.

Perris Fury attended last weekend's competition on their home turf in Perris, as well, and a closer look at the scores of the July and August meet in California offer an interesting picture. Perris Fury posted a 24.7 average in June and a 22.5 average last weekend.

The combined average of 23.6 is not really a result for an underdog. Perris Fury might be closer to the top position than the other top contenders would like it.

The 23.6 average is not very far from a realistic 10-round result. The combined 12 rounds of both meets included almost the complete dive pool. Only the Random Formations L (Adder) and P (Side Body) and the Blocks 3, 6, 11, 16 and 18 were not drawn at the two SCSL meets.

The slowest blocks of the dive pool were a part of these two meets, and three of the missing blocks (3, 6, 16) are on the faster side of the dive pool. The combination of the two meets could be considered a medium draw. If this is the case, then a 23.6 average by Perris Fury in August could turn the 3-some on the very top of the leaderboard into a 4-some at the USPA Nationals in September. Enjoy the new round of NSL-TV and post your thoughts in the NSL Forum.
