Did You Know...

... that the Czech Republic had four teams above 10-average last weekend?

posted Aug 27th, 2007 - New scores from the Czech Republic have already replaced the results of the UK Nationals 2007 on the frontpage. There were no significant changes in Great Britain throughout the remaining rounds of the competition.

Team Storm increased the lead and won with an 18.1 average. Team Elan defended the silver medal position successfully against the Aardvark Zulu charge. The NSL News now waits for an update as of the Storm plans for the 2008 season.

There were also no changes in the AA and Rookie Class standings for the medal positions. Only the A Class teams racing for the bronze medals, Monkey Magic and Phobia, finished with a more dramatic competition. Monkey Magic's all-female line-up managed to turn the 1-point deficit into a 1-point advantage in the final round. Monkey Magic benefitted from a 1-point deduction for Phobia and won the bronze medals.

The 8-way competition of the UK Nationals 2007 has already been completed, as well. ConneXtion won with a 12.1 average after ten rounds in the Open Class. Rawnutz took the first place in the British Junior Class. Several 4-way teams joined forces to form the 8-way line-ups, as the team names indicate.

Record scores in the Czech Republic

The newest scores on the current leaderboard came from the Czech Republic where the national championship was held last weekend. All the teams, except one new line-up in the Rookie Class, had already attended most of the previous meets of the regular season in the Czech Republic.

Jan Klapka, founder and manager of the 4-way league in the European country, has consistently brought up the standards of the 4-way competitions, and with it the performance level of the teams, in the past years. He launched the league with only the AAA Class in 2005.

Rookie Class winners of the Czeck Republic
The Rookie Class was introduced at the beginning of the 2007 season and has been very successful this year. Three teams competed consistently throughout the regular 2007 season, and four teams attended the national championship last weekend.

Jan Klapka now plans to introduce the A Class for the upcoming 2008 season, which will offer this year's Rookie Class teams the opportunity for the next step up. At the same time, he wants to recruit the next Rookie Class line-ups for next year.

The results of his efforts in the Czech Republic are obvious. The scoring level of all Czech AAA Class teams combined was at a 5.4 average in 2005, with a 10.6 average as the highest meet result.

Bad Boys with the team's fan club
Three teams now posted averages higher than 10.0 in the AAA Class last weekend, and the best team, Skyservice, finished the 2007 season with a 12.7 average after four meets for the team. Sky Service consists of Jan Lukavec, Jiří Jirman, Štepán Tuma, Zbynek Živný, with Petr Brož on camera.

The best Rookie Class team, Fast Arrows, with Jan Cermák, Jirina Klapková, Martin Kratochvíl, Renata Matasová and Jitka Hejlová on camera, posted a 10.6 average at the national championship last weekend.

Jan Klapka is a passionate 4-way competitor himself. He trains and competes with the Bad Boys who posted a 2-digit average for the first time last weekend, as well. The Bad Boys had recruited all members of the team's fan club for the national championship who obviously motivated the team enough to post the new record average.
