Did You Know...

... that there is a furious battle for medals in the AA/Intermediate Class?

posted Sep 9th, 2007 - The first Airspeed video has been uploaded. It brings back the last round on Saturday, Round 7 of the USPA Nationals 2007. NSL-TV will process and upload the other videos later.

Rounds 8 and 9 have been completed in the meantime, and Airspeed Odyssey is still controlling the AAA/Open Class field as yesterday. Team Fastrax Red stole a highscore for a round and beat the leader by one point in Round 8. It didn't bother Odyssey much, and they came back with the next sole highscore in Round 9.

The medal positions in the AAA/Open Class are set, nothing will change there. However, there is a furious battle going on for the medal positions in the AA/Intermediate Class, and there is also serious competition for USPA's Advanced Class medals.

USPA offers a set of medals in the AAA/Advanced Class, which applies the same dive pool and competition draw as the AAA/Open Class. Two teams from Perris, Katalyst and Aftermath, have been exchanging blows throughout the whole meet. Katalyst had the upper hand in the first half, Aftermath came back strongly and turned the tie after six rounds into a 5-point lead before Round 10. Guest team CSC Rhythm is in 3rd place, and the USPA medals will most likely go to Cross Keys Vision.

Everything is still possible in the AA/Intermediate Class. The first four teams after Round 9 are separated by five points. Two of these teams are Air Force line-ups from Colorado, AF Ascent and AF Invictus. Ascent has a 1-point advantage in 1st place over Cross Keys Air Pollution, but the team from the MidAtlantic Skydiving League has the momentum after winning Rounds 8 and 9 by a total of five points.

SDC Quattro won a 1-point advantage over Invictus in Round 9 and holds the bronze medal position on home turf before the last round of the meet. The judges are already working on the last videos of the AA/Intermediate Class competition.
