Did You Know...

... that an interview with Airspeed Odyssey comes with new meet videos?

posted Sep 12th, 2007 - Round 6 of the 8-way competition at the USPA Nationals 2007 is in progress. Arizona Airspeed has already secured the top position and enjoys the reunion with world-class 8-way jumps.

NSL-TV uploaded another Airspeed 8-way video. Round 3 had the fastest sequence of the 8-way competition. Craig Girard said that this sequence would be fast enough for a new world record if a well trained team had the opportunity. Airspeed's team captain is still holding the current 8-way world record of 31 points, which was posted by the Golden Knights at the World Meet 1997 in Turkey.

French national 8-way coach Erwan Pouliquen and his 8-way teammates Emmanuel Sarrazin and Clement Martin Saint Leon confirmed Craig Girard's thoughts. They said that their national A-Team in 8-way would probably be able to score higher than 31 points in this round. Arizona Airspeed scored 26 points in Round 3 and increased the lead by three more points.

The weather hold on Tuesday allowed the NSL News and Airspeed Odyssey to take the time for a new live interview. Odyssey invited the NSL News to the team room at Skydive Chicago.

The last conversation in front of the NSL-TV camera took place at the Malevsky Cup 2007. The new interview can be viewed by clicking here.

The Odyssey members and NSL News discussed the team's outstanding 4-way performance in Ottawa and covered the 8-way situation, as well. A view into the near future and the time between now and the World Meet 2008 in France completed the topics of the interview.

It seems to be clear that Airspeed will win the 4-way and 8-way events at the USPA Nationals 2007. However, Airspeed Odyssey and the other Airspeed members have already agreed that the team will not try to win both events at the World Meet 2008 in France. Odyssey seems to be far ahead of the other 4-way teams in the world at the moment. The 4-way members might be able to put enough efforts into the necessary 8-way training and still win the 4-way event.

It would still be a risk, and Airspeed Odyssey is very focused on maintaining and even increasing its own performance level, as Craig Girard explained it: "We are our own biggest competition." The interview provides more insights of the Airspeed Odyssey plans and thoughts.

NSL-TV also uploaded a new 4-way video of Airspeed Odyssey and picked the fastest 4-way sequence of the competition, as well. The sequence of Round 5 included the slow Block 20 (Piver - Viper). Airspeed Odyssey still managed to get past the 30-point mark with a 32-pointer. This increased the distance to Fastrax Red by three more points and already wrapped up the competition for the gold medals. Round 6 added three more points to the lead, and the video will be uploaded soon.
