Did You Know...

... that the NSL Championship 2007 weekend offers a lot of entertainment in DeLand?

NSL Championship 1999
posted Sep 22nd, 2007 - The 2007 competition season is still not quite over yet. There are a few regional league meets scheduled in September and October, and the conclusion of the NSL 2007 season comes with the NSL Championship 2007 (October 26 - 28) and SkyQuest 2007 (November 15 - 18).

The NSL Championship 2007 has been a part of SkyQuest in the past years. That was different in the early years of the National Skydiving League. The championship events of 1998, 1999 and 2000 were separate events and hosted by Skydive DeLand, as the records of the NSL history show.

NSL Championship 2001
SkyQuest Florida was launched in 2001, with Fantasy of Flight as the event host, and the NSL Championship became a part of the multi-discipline event in Polk City.

The cooperation with Fantasy of Flight ended in 2005, and SkyQuest 2006 moved to Skydive DeLand with the same concept, including the NSL Championship competition.

This year, the NSL Championship goes all the way back to the roots and is a separate event in DeLand at the end of October. SkyQuest 2007, with the popular Kaleidoscope Dives and other show elements, is scheduled for the same November weekend of the past years (15 - 18) and takes place once again in DeLand, as well.

Entertainment at Skydive DeLand
The NSL Championship 2007 is scheduled for a weekend that offers a lot of entertainment and fun events at Skydive DeLand, which happen at the same time. One of the longest-standing professional skydiving centers in the world celebrates its 25th anniversary, and the festivities happen on the NSL Championship weekend.

Owner Bob Hallett and General Manager Mike Johnston prepare Skydive DeLand for an Oktoberfest with music, food and beer at the drop zone for the visiting skydivers and teams.

Local and regional owners of vintage air planes also hold their annual Air Jam on the same October weekend and will add more atmosphere of celebration to the event at the DeLand Municipal Airport.

Norman Kent's invitation
Last not least, Norman Kent, probably the most experienced and skilled professional in skydiving videography and photography, celebrates his 32 years in the sport on October 27 at Skydive DeLand. His celebration includes a USPA presentation of the gold medal for meritorious service to Norman Kent that night.

He invites the skydiving community to celebrate with him. There will be samples of Norman's work shown throughout the evening, including skydiving movies, still photography, clips of hollywood movies and published work.

The teams and competitors will have to focus on their ten competition jumps between Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. However, there will be enough extra time to enjoy the exciting weekend of the NSL Championship 2007. And the last 4-way event of the official NSL 2007 season has never been all that serious. The competition is open for guest and pickup teams.
