Did You Know...

... that Florida's AA Class teams continue with their race?

Current and former FSL competitors at the USPA Nationals 2007
posted Sep 29th, 2007 - The weekend of the USPA Nationals 2007 had all three AA/Intermediate Class teams of the Florida Skydiving League competing at the same time and with the same competition draw. However, one of the teams, FSC Wind Damaged, did not travel to Illinois and completed the ten rounds at Skydive DeLand, together with two other FSL teams, ZT Mal4mations and Miami Vice.

The same three AA Class teams from Florida, FSC Wind Damaged, Total Chaos and Z-Team's 12 Fluid OZ, have been battling with each other throughout the whole 2007 season. FSC Wind Damaged attended six meets (7.0 - 8.2 - 7.5 - 8.5 - 10.2 - 10.5) and peaked on the September 8 weekend.

Total Chaos
Total Chaos attended five meets (7.3 - 7.5 - 9.0 - 9.4 - 10.5) and had the highest scores at the last meet, as well. Z-Team's 12 Fluid OZ also competed at five FSL competitions (7.7 - 7.8 - 10.7 - 10.0) and posted the highest meet average of all three teams in August.

Total Chaos, with Chris Ash (Tail), Ray Dutch (Point), Pat Dynaster (Center Inside), Dalton Samulsen (Center Outside) and Louie Palomares (Camera), is the only team that improved the meet average at every single competition this year. FSC Wind Damaged and the Z-Team each had one step backwards before moving forwards again.

Z-Team's 12 Fluid OZ
All three teams are happy with their performances in 2007. The Z-Team competed with the original line-up (Paul Barthus - Tail, Christine Freiherr - Center Inside, Laura Song - Point, Alicia Wolfe - Center Outside) at the last meet, the USPA Nationals 2007 in Ottawa, after filling slots with alternates a few times this year.

The scores and rankings at the USPA Nationals were according to the team's expectations and goals. The Z-Team found itself surprisingly even in a medal position after two rounds. However, the young and inexperienced team from Skydive City in Zephyrhills was not ready and prepared to compete on the very top level and finished in 12th place with a 10.0 average.

FSC Wind Damaged
Total Chaos peaked at the right time and posted a 10.5 average in Ottawa, which came with a 6th place and all happy faces at the end of the competition.

FSC Wind Damaged, with Gilles Dutrisac (Center Outside), Joel Kmetz (Center Inside), Mario Luppa (Tail), Martin McKerrell (Point) and Pascoal Angelo (Camera) in the line-up, ended up behind Total Chaos when both teams attended the last FSL meet together in July.

The Lake Wales team had a strong momentum in August and September and tied Total Chaos' 10-round average in September.

NSL Championship awards
The AA Class teams from Florida are not done yet. The NSL Championship 2007 at Skydive DeLand in October offers the next opportunity to post even better scores and win NSL medals and trophies. Especially Total Chaos and FSC Wind Damaged are eager to break their tied position and finish the 2007 season as the strongest AA Class team in Florida. Z-Team's 12 Fluid OZ will hopefully join the AA Class race once again.

Each of the three teams can win a meet at any time. The Z-Team has posted the highest meet result this year with a 10.7 average in August. Total Chaos holds the record score for a single round with a 20-pointer in July. FSC Wind Damaged has the momentum on the team's side and keeps improving with more coaching by Teiwaz member Bob Byrne. The NSL Championship 2007 is scheduled for October 26 - 28.
