Did You Know...

... that the Golden Knights's caught up with speed in Round 5?

posted Oct 18th, 2007 - HayaBusa Defence's 3-point lead in India lasted only for one jump and one day. It was not only reduced to a lower number, it melted away in Round 5. HayaBusa's Center Outside, David Grauwels, explained what happened:

"We had a glitch. It started in the Star. We built a mis-shaped Meeker, followed by a mis-shaped Stairstep Diamond. This resulted that the start of Block 10 (Diamond - Bunyip) cost us a moment and points."

The video of the jump, once again provided by HayaBusa's videographer Danny Jacobs, shows clearly what Dave was talking about. The false start into the block move slowed down the pace and momentum for a short period of time. HayaBusa remained intact and did not receive any penalties around this challenging situation. This indicates how well synchronized the Belgian FAI World Cup 2007 champion currently performs.

The video of the Golden Knights is not available on NSL-TV. However, the score of 32 points for the same round speaks its own language. In fact, the US Army team even lost another point due to an infringement. It is the outstanding speed of the Golden Knights that has always been a special advantage for the team.

It is almost a surprise that HayaBusa Defence has had the lead for four rounds over the Golden Knights. The format of the CISM 4-way competition surely favors a team that likes to go fast, and the Golden Knights love to skydive on the fastest lane.

Each sequence of the CISM competition is a fast one and favors the Golden Knights. The Star is always the first formation, followed by two random formations. The only block of any sequence comes at the end. It could not be a much better situation for the Army team.

The first sole highscore for a round may give the Golden Knights the confidence and momentum that the team needs to get to the winning Army speed and possibly beat HayaBusa Defence in more rounds.

It will take the highest speed that the Golden Knights have to offer, as it seems to be in India. HayaBusa Defence has the same love for speed, and the team is very well trained, too. In addition, the Belgians are young and very hungry. They have a very strong desire to win, and David Grauwels expressed it with no hesitation:

"We want that gold, it's out there, in reach. And we want that world record on our name. As you are used to with HayaBusa: we will give 200%. May the best win."
