The world-class team from California traveled to Florida and attended the NSL Championship 2007 with three 4-way line-ups of the Perris Fury team project.
The player coach teams (Momentum, Jimani, Acute) were not able to compete at the USPA Nationals 2007 since Perris Fury was busy with its own original line-up. The NSL Championship 2007 was a great opportunity for the three project teams to finish the 2007 season.
There was still more than enough time to meet with the NSL News and record a live interview for NSL-TV. The video of the interview can be viewed by clicking here.
Perris Fury came out with brandnew and great news for the 4-way community. The team had a meeting after arriving in DeLand and discussed the future of the team.
Result was a new commitment for two more years with the same line-up and an option for a third year if Fury qualifies as the US national team for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving in 2010.
The team career with the current line-up began in 2005 when Perris Valley Skydiving hired Dan BC and was also looking for a team project for the future. Perris Fury was at the right place at the right time and used the great opportunity. Christy Frikken has been the creative mind of the team and provided most of the ideas for the team project, as the other team members confirmed in the interview. She has also worked on the continuity and progression of the Southern California Skydiving League.
Dan BC had already mentioned during an interview with the NSL News at the event at Skydive Chicago that a team needs a certain amount of time to settle at a higher performance and pace level to get familiar with the new situation. The Fury members confirmed Dan BC's evaluation and felt that they did not have enough time to settle at the July/August level.
The new Fury goals for the next two years do not only include the first place at the USPA Nationals in 2009. The team members also want to move on with the team building projects, which have been very successful. They said that these projects help to finance the team training, build a new generation of Formation Skydiving teams and competitors and promote Perris Valley as one of the prime training centers in the world.
The NSL News was asking more specifically how Perris Fury was planning to lift the scoring level to a winning average in 2009. The team members already had some of the answers to this question.
The Perris Fury plan includes a new continuity for the dive engineering. Fury will finally include memory work for the rear piece, as well, and avoid mirror-imaged sequences as much as possible. However, mirror-imaged sequences will still remain as an option for specific situations.
Perris Fury is also convinced that quality will become more important than quantity. Better goal-setting on a daily basis are supposed to bring better results. The team also plans to be better prepared for each competition. Dan BC brought the "Best of Perris Fury" video into the mental training plan this year, and visualization will remain on the top of the training agenda. The "Best of Perris Fury" is still available in the NSL Shop. The video of the complete interview can be viewed by clicking here.
