... that Mile-Hi Mayhem found a home for the new NSL Rookie Class trophy?

posted Nov 9th, 2007 - Rookie Class team Miami Vice of the Florida Skydiving League did not stay ahead of Mile-Hi Mayhem for a very long time, and the ranking order after Round 1 was not expected to be like that at all. The NSL News story on June 19 had already reported how strong the team from Colorado was.

Miami Vice continued with the team's consistent progression at its 5th meet of the 2007 season and finished with the highest meet average this year. However, Round 2 put things back in the expected order, and it happened in a quite impressive way.

Mile-Hi Mayhem, with Craig Julien (Center Inside), Bob Meister (Point), Russ Moran (Center Outside) and Kim Smith (Tail) in the line-up, DeLand local Van Wideman was filming the team, came back with a 15-pointer in Round 2. It was Mayhem's second highest score for a single round in 2007 and created a 7-point lead after the second jump at the NSL Championship 2007.

Round 2 was the last one completed by all teams in DeLand, due to the unfortunate weather situation. The award ceremony was the next event action that concluded the event. Mile-Hi Mayhem proudly accepted medals and the new perpetual Rookie Class trophy, sponsored by Aerodyne.

The news of the team's honors at the NSL Championship 2007 quickly spread in the home territory of Colorado. Mile-Hi Mayhem has trained regularly in the SkyVenture Colorado windtunnel, and the good news was shared with the on-line audience at the windtunnel's website. The NSL Rookie Class trophy has also found its new home at SkyVenture Colorado.

Round 2 brought a technically challenging sequence for the teams in all other competition classes. Perris Jimani and Perris Momentum posted the highscore for the round with 9-pointers each. It was the second highscore for Perris Jimani in the two rounds of the meet and brought the gold medals and NSL AA Class trophy to Perris.

Perris Momentum and FSC Wind Damaged had won one round each by one point and were now tied in second place after two rounds. Both teams had already completed Round 3 when the meet was concluded, which provided the tie-breaker. Perris Momentum's 10-pointer in Round 3 eventually won the second place.

Teiwaz Tempest did not get many opportunities to show off the team's talent. The sequence of the second round in the AAA Class was very challenging for a team that had hardly begun with its training. Bob Byrne will now give back the Center Inside slot to his wife Kris, and Chris Ash (Tail), Thiago Murradas (Point) and Ari Perelman (Center Outside) will move to Skydive Sebastian and begin with the preparations for the 2008 season.
