Did You Know...

... that Perris Fury's rear piece has mastered the first slot switchers?

Perris Fury interview in October
posted Nov 29th, 2007 - The NSL News story on 1 November 2007 broke the news that Perris Fury committed to two/three more years with the same line-up. The training efforts for the new time period began with a tunnel camp in Bedford this month.

The Perris Fury members explained in the live interview for the NSL News that the team will change the continuity plan and mainly retire the mirror images. Instead, both pieces will accept memory and slot switchers in the future, as most of the top teams have already applied this concept.

Center Outside Christy Frikken returned to Florida after the trip to the United Kingdom and underwent eye surgery with Optic Nerve's Dr. Joel Shugar. She updated the NSL News with information of the windtunnel training in Bedford on 12 November 2007.

Perris Fury members in A-slots...
Christy covered primarily the 2-on-2 training with Bodyflight Storm, the British national 4-way team in the AAA/Open Class. However, the actual tunnel training for the Perris Fury line-up alone was a part of the training camp, as well, and it was crucial for the new continuity plan.

It was the first time for Uli Steuwe (Tail) and Chris Farina (Center Inside) in the rear piece that they switched their slots to accommodate the new plan. The front pieces of most teams are used to memory and slot switchers, either with or without mirror-image history. Teams with mirror-imaged pages in the continuity plan have no slot switchers for the rear piece.

Perris Fury used the recent tunnel training camp to familiarize the rear piece with the new slots. The training videos show Uli Steuwe only in the Center Inside position and Chris Farina as the Tail in all sequences. The front piece switched the slots, as well, and had Christy Frikken only as the Point and Josh Hall only in the Center Outside position.

...and in B-slots
The Perris team also demonstrated another part of its training plan very clearly, as the NSL-TV video shows. The first part of each new sequence is a drill where the individuals complete their moves and stop any motion or momentum separately before taking grips. The remaining time of a tunnel session is then dedicated to a flowing sequence without extra breaks or stops.

The rear piece members look already quite comfortable and confident in their "B-slots" on the provided video footage. The complete continuity plan with randomly drawn sequences and the new slot switchers for both pieces will be applied at the next training camp.

Greetings from Perris Fury
The NSL News also received other mail from Perris Fury. It was a team greeting card with a thank-you note from the whole team, and it was a very nice surprise on a normal office day:

"Dear Kurt: Thank you for running a great meet, the interview and great articles. Despite the weather our teams had a great time in DeLand, and we hope to be back for next year's championship, too. Fury looks forward to visiting again at the Shamrock Showdown. Thanks again for your hard work."

The NSL News sends a thank-you note back to California. The NSL News depends on good cooperation with teams, competitors, coaches and hosts to offer interesting and up-to-date information. Perris Fury has been making great efforts to provide the NSL News with the needed information and footage. All other teams of all competition classes and levels should be encouraged to help bring great information and stories to the audience.
