Did You Know...

... that CTR Optimum won the Brazilian Nationals 2007 in B-slots?

Nick and Sandy Grillet in 2001
posted Nov 30th, 2007 - The valued NSL-TV audience has the next opportunity to watch youngster Nick Grillet perform in the Center Outside position for Teiwaz at the 4-way meet of SkyQuest 2007. The two videos of Round 2 have now been uploaded.

Nick Grillet moved from the Northern Plains to Florida this summer and pursues a professional career with Performance Designs in DeLand. He is the new PD Tour representative in the USA. His 4-way competition career was another reason for the move to one of the most popular skydiving centers.

The sequence of Round 2 brought the first slot switcher to the front piece with Nick. He has not had much training in the AAA Class dive pool yet. However, he mastered the memory challenge easily, and Teiwaz increased the distance to Optic Nerve by three points in this round.

Optic Nerve exit in Round 2
Optic Nerve engineered the sequence in the team's own and unique way. There was a timing problem with the Danish T exit, and Optic lost the first missing seconds right at the beginning of the jump.

Optic Nerve and Teiwaz were actually not the only teams competing on the November 17 weekend. The scores of the four Brazilian teams were added to the leaderboard at a later time.

CTR Optimum, with Ziara Abud (Outside Center), Fábio Diniz (Tail), André Ferraz (Point), Pedro "Junior" Ushizima (Inside Center) and Renato "Chubby" Acerbi (Camera) in the line-up, won Brazil's national championship of 2007 once again and will continue to represent Brazil as the national 4-way team.

The Brazilian team scored below the usual average level and ended up behind Teiwaz and Optic Nerve. Team speaker Fábio Diniz explained the reason for the currently lower scoring level:

"We were still happy with our performance, even if it was only a 13.9 average this time. The draw was not too fast, and we were in our B-slots throughout the whole competition."

CTR Optimum had just completed a training camp with Airspeed Odyssey's Craig Girard where the team had focused only on the B-slots. Girard had recommended to remain in the B-slots for the meet practice. Diniz said that his team is now preparing for the World Meet 2008 in France:

"We are now looking forward to France next year, and we hope that our next training with even more B-slot training will improve our average until then."
