Did You Know...

... that CSC Rhythm has new team plans for 2008?

CSC Rhythm 2008 line-up
posted Dec 6th, 2007 - Midwest Skydiving League team CSC Rhythm has new plans for the 2008 season, and they include personnel changes. Player coach Robert Chromy guided the three members of the new 2007 line-up (JaNette and Steve Lefkowitz, Laurent Beaudouin) through the team's first season in the AAA Class. His Center Inside slot will be filled by Brian Ball in 2008. Kevin Naftzger will film the team next year.

The NSL News has already followed the members of the line-up for a while. Steve Lefkowitz was mentioned the first time in MWSL Director Alan Butt's summary of the 2005 season: "Good Vibrations' roster at the last meet included newcomer Steve Lefkowitz with a total of 100 jumps in the tail position and showing real promise."

Steve Lefkowitz caught more attention of the NSL News after he had competed with Eva's Revenge at the Valentine's Meet 2006. The NSL News story on 22 February 2006 provided more information of the new passionate 4-way competitor.

In the meantime, his wife JaNette Lefkowitz competed with the CSC Sirens in 2006, and her name came up several times in the NSL News, as well. She was a part of the exciting 2006 race between the two all-female line-ups, the SDC Furies and the CSC Sirens.

Steve Lefkowitz joined CSC Rubicon's AAA Class line-up for an MWSL meet in August 2006, and MWSL Director Alan Butt was once again aware of his experience level:

"Rubicon's point, Steve Lefkowitz, is an impressive example of how much is possible in 4-way with the right combination of commitment and talent. Steve only graduated from the CSC student program last summer and has successfully made the huge leap to the AAA Class in the NSL with its complete dive pool, slot switchers and occasional 12-point non-repeaters."

The Lefkowitz family finally joined forces in 2007 and formed CSC Rhythm, with Laurent Beaudouin in the Tail slot and player coach Robert Chromy in the driver's seat. The new team competed at the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2007 and received special attention by the NSL News on 3 April 2007.

The 2007 season turned out to be an extremely successful project for CSC Rhythm. The team competed in the AAA Class at the USPA Nationals 2007 and placed third as a guest team in USPA's Advanced Class field of 15 teams, with a 14.5 average.

The team knows that player coach Robert Chromy has earned the credit for this success, as JaNette Lefkowitz recently confirmed: "We'll definitely miss Chromy - this past season definitely exceeded all of our expectations."

However, CSC Rhythm decided to move on with four players in 2008, and JaNette explained the reasons for this decision: "The finances of a player-coach team and doing as much tunnel and jumping as we want to do - it just didn't work."

The team is really excited about the upcoming season and has once again plans for an "aggressive year". The new Center Inside, Brian Ball, flew the same position for Ranch Pulse. JaNette Lefkowitz expressed the excitement of the team after finding a great new player and announced the training plans:

"We found an awesome fourth - Brian Ball from Ranch Pulse is joining us as the Inside Center. He's moved to Texas and will be traveling to the Chicagoland Skydiving Center to train with us next year. We're doing all of our tunnel training at Paraclete XP, starting in January, and are really looking forward to that. Kirk Verner is going to coach us there and also at CSC."

CSC Rhythm has also just launched a new team website, which provides great information, not only about the team itself. It is also a resource of interesting 4-way articles and stories.

Team member Laurent Beaudouin also developed a computer program last year that CSC Rhythm used to track the progress, including exits, random & block times, etc. JaNette Lefkowitz provided a few details of the program:

"It is actually the stopwatch and will also 'predict' a score on a round based on our averages from previous dives. We'd use it to compete against ouselves during training mock meets, etc. We think it's pretty useful. The SDC Furies also used it last season."

She added that Laurent is cleaning it up to make it more user-friendly and is going to share it with other teams for free on the team's website: "We'd love it if other teams found it useful and perhaps suggested improvements, too. We will let the NSL News know when he makes it available. It should be very soon."
