Did You Know...

... that more videos of the Optic Nerve - Teiwaz showdown have been uploaded?

posted Dec 17th, 2007 - The videos of two more rounds of the 4-way showdown between Optic Nerve and Teiwaz at SkyQuest 2007 have been uploaded.

The last story of the same meet coverage on 30 November 2007 mentioned that Round 2 was a challenge for AAA Class newcomer Nick Grillet, with memory and a slot switcher. Block 3 (Side Flake Opal - Turf) caused a similar situation in Round 3, but Teiwaz used an engineering option that brought everybody back to the top of the page.

Optic Nerve used the same engineering to avoid the memory challenge and came out on top in this round. However, Teiwaz lost this round due to two penalties, which reduced the 14 points in working time to a 12-pointer on the scoreboard. It was the only round that Teiwaz gave up in this duel with Optic Nerve. The home judges can provide their feedback in the NSL Forum.

Both Florida Skydiving League teams managed to hold off the Brazilian national 4-way team, CTR Optimum, on that November weekend. The same story on November 30 had already explained why the Brazilian team did not score higher, as team speaker Fábio Diniz explained:

"We were still happy with our performance, even if it was only a 13.9 average this time. The draw was not too fast, and we were in our B-slots throughout the whole competition."

Round 4 had one of the fastest sequences of the competition on the November 17 weekend. Block 1 (Snowflake - Offset) was followed by an easy sequence of random formations. Teiwaz launched a complete Snowflake and gained a significant headstart over Optic Nerve during the sub-terminal part of the jump. The 20-pointer finished off the arch-rival in the latest version of the friendly competition that has been going on over many years.
