Did You Know...

... that Bodyflight Storm's front piece had problems in Bedford?

Perris Fury/Bodyflight Storm in action - see video
posted Jan 12th, 2008 - The NSL News story on 26 November 2007 covered the Perris Fury - Bodyflight Storm tunnel camp in Bedford where both teams continued with their productive and successful cooperation. NSL News plan was to follow up with videos of this tunnel camp where Perris Fury provided coaching with 2-on-2 flying sessions.

It took a little while until the footage became available, however, it is never too late for some great videos, which have now been uploaded. Thanks to Bodyflight Storm and team videographer Gary Wainwright.

The video from the November camp shows the different pieces of both teams flying together at Bodyflight Bedford. The available videos feature only sequences that are all made of random formations and blocks with individual flying. However, the quality level of each Fury-Storm combination is worth a closer look.

Bodyflight Storm trains Block 10...
The footage begins with Bodyflight Storm's front piece (Claire Scott - Center Outside, Sarah Smith - Point) flying together with Perris Fury's rear piece (Chris Farina - Center Inside, Uli Steuwe - Tail). The next session shows Perris Fury's front piece (Christy Frikken - Center Outside, Josh Hall - Point) flying together with Bodyflight Storm's rear piece (Hannah Betts - Center Inside, Kate Stephens - Tail). The pieces switch in the same order throughout the whole video.

One interesting aspect of the training is the fact that both teams had agreed to follow the right-hand pattern, which pretends exits from a Pilatus Porter. Bodyflight Storm knew already that the team would have to train the right-hand pattern for the World Meet 2008 in France. Perris Fury will have a left-hand pattern for the team's foreseeable future. The Fury members adjusted well to the unusual pictures and maneuvers.

...and Block 13 at a recent camp
Perris Fury continued with challenging training projects during the tunnel camp at Bodyflight Bedford. The NSL News story on 29 November 2007 explained more about the cross-training for the rear piece.

Bodyflight Storm's next step was a training camp in December, which was still held from a Twinotter. The NSL News story on 27 December 2007 reported how the British team handled this unusual situation.

The windtunnel training for UK's national team in IPC's female category continued at Bodyflight Bedford, as well. A more recent trainig session did not bring new video footage for the NSL News, even though the access to some Storm bloopers were discussed after the last updates.

However, team speaker Claire "Sparky" Scott sent some photos of the recent tunnel camp, and they included evidence of a special relationship between the front piece partners. A fun session at the end of the training got Storm's Center Outside and Point Sarah Smith entangled in an unknown and probably unplanned formation.

Bodyflight Storm enjoys a controlled formation
The front piece eventually gained back the control over the situation, and the whole team finally enjoyed the presentation to the camera in the center of the windtunnel.

The NSL News has other great news that are related to the windtunnel in the United Kingdom. The preparations for the World Challenge 2008 at Bodyflight Bedford are in full swing, and the NSL News will once again cover the event live from the competition site. Owner Paul Mayer mentioned that 14 teams have already signed up by now, and it will be another world-class competition in March this year. The NSL News will soon follow up with more information.
