Did You Know...

... that CSC Rhythm offers training projects for the Midwest skydiving community?

CSC Rhythm 2007 at the MWSL award ceremony with MWSL Director Alan Butt
posted Jan 21st, 2008 - The NSL News story on 6 December 2007 (Archives > 2007 > News) provided an overview of the plans that the Midwest Skydiving League team CSC Rhythm had laid out for the 2008 season. The story was mostly a summary of the team's history and the recent achievements, including the 3rd place in the Advanced Class competition of the USPA Nationals 2007.

The plans for the 2008 season included a new team player, as the same story already announced. Brian Ball from Ranch Pulse has joined CSC Rhythm as the Inside Center. Laurent Beaudouin (Tail), JaNette and Steve Lefkowitz (Center Outside and Point) complete the line-up, Kevin Naftzger will be on camera.

CSC Rhythm has finalized the plans for 2008. The team project reaches out much further than last year and includes activities for and with the whole Midwest Skydiving League community. MWSL Director Alan Butt is currently working on the meet schedule for the new season und provided an update for the Midwest Skydiving League and the NSL News. His MWSL update shows what CSC Rhythm has in the works for the 2008 season.

CSC Rhythm 2008 line-up in Raeford

Midwest Skydiving League 2008

By Alan Butt, MWSL Director

If I'm not mistaken, it was a bitterly cold day last January when I sent out the first 2007 MWSL email, so it would seem that I am right on schedule given the wind chill is -20 as I write this. I am still working on our schedule for 2008, but did want to share some news regarding training and other opportunities being planned by members of CSC Rhythm (I hope to have the meet schedule finalized in the next few weeks). For 2008 Rhythm is Steve Lefkowitz, JaNette Lefkowitz, Brian Ball, Laurent Beaudouin and Kevin Naftzger.

Many of you have had the opportunity to fly in one or more of the windtunnels that have been built over the past decade. CSC Rhythm has a camp scheduled March 29/30 at the newest and largest of these in Raeford, NC. You can reserve a slot for as little as $212 (15 minutes, includes coaching). An outstanding experience for virtually any level of skydiver, whether you plan to do 4-way this year or not. Contact them at the team website if you are interested.

Also coming up, Rhythm is hosting a get-together March 1 at their place downtown for folks who would like to meet others possibly interested in doing 4-way this year. Stop by and maybe change your skydiving life..., or at least find out if Steve and JaNette actually do have a creeping room.

Tunnel camp with Kirk Verner
Further down the road (i.e. once it actually becomes jumpable here again) they are also planning several "team for a day" weekends, as well as two scrambles (in which many of you participated in 2007). A great opportunity to have fun and learn some new skills for all experience levels. See their schedule on the team website for more information. Also, they have retained 4-way legend Kirk Verner as their coach for 2008 and have offered to make him available to others during some of his frequent visits to Chicagoland Skydiving Center.

In short, there will be many opportunities for you to get involved in 4-way related activities this year, ranging from having fun at a scrambles to starting your own 4-way team. Please check out the website or shoot them an email and start making plans for how you'd like to get the most out of your skydiving this year.

Belated Happy New Year, Alan Butt, Midwest Skydiving League

It sounds like the skydiving community in the Midwest region will have a lot of great opportunities to benefit from the efforts that CSC Rhythm has already made in the past and plans for the upcoming season. More details of the team's activities can be found at the team website.
