Did You Know...

... that Perris Helion had a great comeback in round two of the SSL April meet?

posted May 11th, 2005 - The new round of NSL-TV shows the Southwest Skydiving League April meet catching up with the Florida Skydiving League's event on the same weekend. The coverage of the FSL meet in Lake Wales has already shown round two, while the footage of the SSL meet became available later and recently featured the first round of the event.

Both competitions now show round two on NSL-TV with the same sequences in each competition class. Unfortunately, the quality of the SSL footage is still not up to top performance, even though it slowly gets better. In fact, six of the eight SSL video files offer average NSL-TV quality. Only the videos of Arizona Odyssey and Perris Storm need serious guessing to get an idea what is happening. Once again, the NSL-TV decided to upload these files only to give the viewers at least a chance to decipher as much as possible.

At the same time, the NSL headquarters currently works to explore ways how to achieve the goal of highest efficiency between dubbing - judging and uploading for NSL-TV. This project requires serious resources with hardware, software and manpower. The very small NSL operation in DeLand is trying hard to present NSL-TV of high quality while continuing with normal daily operation. However, apologies to the hard-core NSL-TV fans who might have to be a little bit more patient before the final goal of high quality and efficiency will be accomplished.

A quick look at the NSL-TV page shows that both leagues currently show the same round of the competition. The NSL-TV will continue from here on to keep the SSL and FSL jumps on the April 16 weekend synchronized.

Perris Helion's round two - see video
The story of the April meet was the surprise that the Norwegian national 4-way team Arcteryx was able to keep up with the two Arizona Airspeed line-ups. It was a fast competition draw on April 16, and the top teams usually pull away further from the field in faster rounds. This finally happened, at least between Airspeed Velocity with the team's original line-up and Arcteryx in the fast rounds three, four and five. However, Arcteryx kept up with Airspeed Odyssey and the team's April line-up with John Eagle, and also went the same pace as Velocity throughout the first two rounds.

The sequence for round two was on the technical side and made it easier for the Norwegian team to stay close. Actually, both Airspeed line-ups were a little bit faster than Arcteryx. Odyssey had the highscore with 17 points, and Velocity completed 17 points in time, as well, but lost one point on the hill due to the lack of judgeable pictures. Arcteryx scored 16 points in round two. The 17th point was the top formation of Block 22 (T - Chinese T) and not too far away.

Arizona Divewerkz' round two - see video
Perris Helion and Perris Storm tied each other's scores in the same round. It was a great comeback for Helion after a shocking opening round with a bad exit and a penalty situation in Block 17 (Danish T - Murphy), which was recently covered by the NSL News. It was the only round of the whole meet where Helion gave the local Perris rival a serious competition.

The AA Class sequence was identical with the AAA Class sequence of round two. Arizona Divewerkz did not only leave the rest of the AA Class field in the dust with the score of 11 points, the AZ team also beat the two AAA Class teams from Perris on site in Eloy and two other AAA Class teams at other locations in this round.

Enjoy the limited SSL-TV show as much as viewable, a new round of the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2005 will be next on NSL-TV.
